Let's see.
1) The GOP knows exactly what the democrats want. It's something that more and more GOP representatives want now, too.
2) The longer the government is shut down, the longer Mike Johnson can delay swearing in the new representative from Arizona. Then she can't vote to release The Epstein Files (which she will vote to release them). Since her vote is the deciding vote, keeping her from being sworn in means it can't be cast.
3) Without Congress acting, Trump can do whatever he wants, which he is. So, he wants the shutdown to last long enough to expand his power.
The GOP can easily get the government reopened, but they don't want it to. I say that since Congress is composed of federal workers, they don't get paid until the government is reopened. Nor does any other person who is employed by the federal government like Bondi, Patel, or Noem. Let's see how long they keep the shutdown going when they don't get their salaries anymore?

1) Yes, the GOP knows what democrats want, and they can't allow it. And they shouldn't.

2) This is not the reason the GOP won't agree to democrats demands, although I'm sure you would like to think it is. It's about principles and $ billions in spending on illegal immigrants' healthcare benefits.

3) Again, I'm sure the democrats' talking points have convinced you that is the case, but it's not. See item #2.

The democrats could have ended this shutdown a lot time ago by dropping their bullshit demands to continue funding healthcare benefits for illegal immigrants. That's all in the world this shutdown is about.

Calofornia gives a massive amount to the federal government especially when you consider how little they get back. Cut-off federal aid to states, and most states that fail will be the deep red ones.
