Should prostitution be legalized?

I think it would actually go a long way in fixing some of the societal problems with romantic relationships in general.

It would kinda even out the playing field and devalue sex to the point it's not such a big part of the value of a relationship. Which is probably why woman statistically are so against it.

Up until Christianity, prostitution was totally normal and in many places there was nothing wrong being relatively open about it.

Absolutely. 100% of the evidence suggests that legalizing prostitution is better in every way. Prostitutes can rely on the same health and safety services as any other worker. Pimping is eliminated, giving the workers more control over their services and rates as well as reducing trafficking. The income also becomes meaningfully trackable, and therefore taxable. Regions with legalized prostitution tend to have people reporting generally higher sense of satisfaction in their intimate relationships, as well as longer lasting marriages and lower rates of divorce. There’s literally no downside. Only ignorant people who have been told that it’s “sinful” or “wrong” and have never done the research argue against it.
Feminists tend to be torn in the issue because legalizing prostitution empowers women, who tend to be the majority of prostitutes. Doing so also makes men, who tend to be the majority of patrons, much happier. Nothing angers feminists more than happy men. Ell oh ell!

I think it should be legalized in the US. Some places have already done it. I think moving it out of the shadows and into the mainstream gets rid of a lot of problems.

Eliminating at least some sex trafficking.
Pimps using drugs to control sex workers.
Maybe some of the stigma.
Better safety for sex workers.
Maybe better healthcare and STD prevention for sex workers and clients.
Revenue reporting and taxation.

I look at it like legalizing pot. Pot is largely legalized now in the Northeastern US for medicinal and recreational use. Did I run out and start buying / using pot? Nope. Not once. For most of us nothing changed. I think that's the way it will be with prostitution.

And fuck the Jesus Freak morality mongers. They haven't gotten anything right in 3,000 years.

sure, if the government keeps a tight control on brothels and ensures the prostitutes are all willing 18+ yos who know what they're getting into and can leave at any time, and that the establishments are very clean and ethical.

i think it can definitely bring a lot of good for both genders. on one hand, it will reduce sex trafficking and certain sex crimes massively and women who want to prostitute themselves can do so legally and in much better conditions, and certain types of men that aren't very good are more likely to leave women alone. on the other hand, men are able to relieve themselves much more effortlessly and won't be sexually frustrated as much, they're less likely to put themselves in danger while trying to get paid sex, they will have better conditions of servicing & less likely to get stds, and they can go about all that with much less guilt.

I would say a Resounding YES!! — however I do not think it will solve any societal problems nor fix any relationship problems. And how do you know woman are statistically against it? …is that you opinion?

Yes, but illegal sexwork is profitable income source for police, pimps and sexworkers. Legal prostitution means much lower prices for such services.

in practice it's pretty much already legal. you can easily get sex in massage parlor. strip club dances are often pretty much close to sex
