There has always been an authoritarian minority in every society in human history. It's a fear driven personality flaw that can be used to manipulate stupid people, similar to religion. The two things are closely related.
And it follows a fairly reliable cycle. Authoritarians feel empowered at some point and try to seize power. They either fail miserably and are knocked back down the social ladder or they are successful briefly until they are slaughtered into surrender and kicked back into the sewers of humanity.
But they are never quite exterminated. A new generation is being born every minute. They need to be constantly monitored and dealt with. And frankly, few societies have ever had the stomach for eradicating them proactively periodically.

The people in those camps were arrested for commiting criminal acts, not "just because..." and put in camps because no prison could hold that many people or facilitate deportation. The people in those camps suffered because the Allies bombed the road and railways and no supplies were reaching the camps, guards were giving their rations to the children of those criminals and they suffered along with everybody else - the Allies were even strafing livestock in fields from the air to starve millions of civilians on purpose! These are things that aren't spoken of in the mainstream any more, but it used to be and all people have to do is look at the OTHER SIDE OF THE STORY instead of just believing what they were told on the telly and Youtube!
Hyper-inflation happened towards the end of the Weimar period, before that it was like it is now - things that used to cost 10p in the UK now cost almost a quid and I know inflation isn't the only thing causing it but the effect is still the same, MORE POOR PEOPLE!

Those photographs you saw of emaciated people in the camps were REAL, but they ended up like that because the Allies bombed the railways and roads all over Germany, including the supply lines to the camps, so no food or medicine was getting to those people and by the time the Allies got there, many had died and were emaciated. german guards were giving their rations to kids and if you wonder about the kids being there... It was deemed unfair to split families up, what would be done with the children? Here's another thing you were never told - the people that were arrested were CRIMINALS and after what had been done to Germany with illegal immigration and non-enforcement of laws (A BIT LIKE IN OUR NATIONS TODAY), there were too many people to go into prisons, so work and deportation camps were built.
