6K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Making it illegal was a scam in the first place. The purpose was to monopolize making paper from trees, and things like rope and fabric from petrolium instead of hemp, and also to create an excuse to harass minorities (blacks and Mexicans).
And Nixon's later war on drugs was about arresting minorities, hippies, and war protestors.
So it was never about protecting the public. Marijuana was never a danger.
Cannabis is a plant that has been used for thousands of years. It has many medicinal properties. It is easy to grow.
It is far less dangerous than alcohol and has fewer health risks than tobacco products.
Abraham Lincoln was once asked what was his favorite thing to do. He said, to sit in his rocking chair, play his harmonica, and smoke "sweet" hemp.
I think it should be legal to grow. In that sense, it should be completely unregulated. That would take the profit away from drug dealers and corporations.
Its use could be limited like alcohol. No underage smoking. No smoking in public. No driving under the influence. There should be minor penalties for breaking those rules.
People could buy it in liquor stores and bars like alcohol if they wanted to. And there could still be dispensaries for specialized products.

7 moSo far I haven’t seen negatives of it, I personally don’t want to do weed or plan to however I understand the War On The Drugs damage to communities a long time ago and those affects still being felt so it would be good to legalize weed.
Also during these depressing times, substance abuse grows so maybe making weed legal totally would allow less people to fall into Fentanyl or something deadly or worse for your body than weed.AND we should free those arrested for weed possession and sales who have sat in a cold prison cell for decades. That is cruel.

I will add, that a lot of people will dunk on weed, but ignore the elephant in the room that alcohol is a drug.
I think weed should be legal in the U. S.
A lot of people are sitting in jail for non violent possession charges and that does nothing but waste lives and drain taxpayer money. Legalization would keep people out of the system for something that’s way less harmful than alcohol or tobacco and it would save millions in court and prison costs. Plus if it were regulated like alcohol people would be buying from safe controlled sources instead of random dealers. That means a much lower risk of products being laced with fentanyl or other dangerous substances. Regulation protects people way more than prohibition does. So to me, legalization just makes sense less overcrowded prisons less wasted money, and safer products for the people who choose to use it.

Also might reduce cartels from coming
1.4K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Isn’t it? …or close to yet? …I thought only Wyoming and Idaho were the only holdouts in an otherwise national trend for decriminalization. The population has strong opinions about weed, which is of course, they love it and think that it should be legal, across the country.

7 moIt's legal in my state and we grow our own in summer. I'm pretty sure we will see it legal country wide in our life time. It seems like it's getting closer to it all the time.

I just threw this image in 'cuz I thought it was funny but what do I know, I'm on dope 🤣

1.1K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. It is legal in the US well it's not recognized that way yet , and that's just because the government wants to make the money off of it , which they are doing but pot just went up again and there are ways to buy stock on the stock exchange in certain ways. But once they legalize it and you start buying stock, you can start making hell of money.

7 moNo. It's not just the reduction of faculties. Like cigarette tobacco, it has many toxic ingredients that if continuously smoked on a regular basis will contribute to eventual ill health and or death. But Vaping is more vexing to me than pot or weed. It does not reduce the toxic effects of smoking, and I see most young girls... it seems... vaping, and probably thinking it is safe and harmless. It is neither. The smoke goes directly into your squishy pink lung cells and clings to it like superglue. A black and brown tarry substance that builds up till eventually you can't breathe... and you need to carry around a little oxygen tank on wheels everywhere you go with plastic tubes that go into your nose. And climbing a flight of stairs will seem like a day's work to you. No.

7 moNo. marijuana should remain illegal at the federal level. Why? So states can still consider a driver who has smoked marijuana to be considered Driving Under the influence (DUI), which is a major way that states and local areas add money to their coffers. In fact, by legalizing it at the state level, it encourages drivers to use it, making it more likely that they will be caught for DUI.
Like most things in government, it's all about money.
00 Reply 679 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Well its legal in Canada and the earth has not opened up and swallowed the country... no worse than booze.
31 Reply- 8.7K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic.
7 moAbsolutely!! I never use it but it's WAY safer than booze!! I just saw a video the other night of some girl being detained by the police because she'd been smoking grass a few hours before she went driving and even the cop that nabbed her said that she probably won't get busted for that because driving high is nowhere near as bad as driving drunk.
00 Reply 577 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Sure, why not.
If someone were to bring back the Mexican that I enjoyed in the late 60s and early to mid-70s, I'd be a buyer.
I've tried what's legally available for sale these days in my state.
It's not at all to my liking.10 Reply- 1K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic.
7 moAll drugs should be legal for anyone over a certain age.
I believe that no matter how stupid people who use pot are, in a free society you have the freedom to be stupid.
Pot causes brain damage, but that's your choice. Just don't expect other people to pay for the damage you do to yourself.

u 7 moAt least decriminalize it, avoid all the damn bureaucratic work punishing a few potheads. I personally knew a guy who got seven years in prison for being caught with a personal consumption amount of weed under these insane three-strikes laws.

7 moAlcohol is, why criminalize weed? Police don’t need to be pressured to arrest someone for carrying a little bit of weed
