One year ago America was so alive and 1/2 of us were upbeat and happy because Trump won the election. So, do you still feel that excited?

I was just thinking back on last year at this time. I had been watching all of Trump's rallies and I honestly felt a gleam of happiness that America was going to get better.
But as I am writing this question, I'm sad to say that I am actually frightened now about the way America is.
It's not at all like I thought it would be. It's worse than I had hoped for.
I think that if Trump had mentioned at his rallies what he had planned with Elon Musk and his new team were going to do right off the bat, and that so much change was going to happen so quickly, perhaps we could have been more prepared for all of the changes that kept happening, one right after another and are still happening. I think it's gotten out of control. I can't keep up with all of the changes.

I was hopeful and remain hopeful. He's swung at all sorts of issues and made a dent in a few. It will take time to repair the mess, and frankly impossible.

Eventually I think the left seizes power again and we get strong dose of socialism redistribution via AI and guaranteed income. I see no way around that.

If trump can fix a few things without making much larger messes, that be amazing.

Im hedging my bets with a ticket to heaven via Jesus Christ.

Thank goodness I am old and don't have to be around much longer to maneuver my life with constant threats of Social Security and my other benefits that keep me from being homeless.

That would be a great movie title "From Homeless to Heaven".

If you remember that five years ago. The previous administration and their followers were rampant in shoving their leftward leaning policies down their non supporters throat. The right had to stand by and watch them go about their usually not good for America ways.

I'm not American but for most of my adult life my income has come from my American businesses. I thought the economy would do ramp up this year following a really good 2024 and never imagined this mess to the economy and how much pain Trump inflicted on small business. I can profit more on a bad economy as most qualified investors can, but the average American who buys stocks after hours is going to be in for a surprise. Money is pouring out of the US to better investment opportunities in Asia and the EU while waiting for the big crash. This could be bigger than 2008 based on the data

I am still pretty excited but I am starting to get worried about next years elections. If democrats take back even one of the houses of congress, it all comes to a screeching halt.
We have to make sure we all get out there and vote to maintain our way of life.

I think DJT did a big no no. I noticed that benefits have been cut... to Americans, not just immigrants. Some people's food stamps cut in half, health ins benefits have taken a big hit in spending per year. I personally feel next years elections are going to go democrat. I think a lot of people are pissed off. And then there is the targeted thing.. the assassination attempts. If he gets killed.. all bets are off.

I own two houses and both have gone up in value. I think 2026 is going to be even better.

I live in a neighborhood of people on low income govt programs. Most of them are upset and angry. A woman from Colombia told me about how a lady she is helping benefits were slashed in half. Its not hype. Aetna has rolled back coverage on health insurance to less than half of what it used to be. That is my own policy. Dental went from 7K / annum to 2500 dollars.

And to be sure... "arches" or teeth implants cost about 40K a piece. That is directly from a local dentist I spoke with about alts to dentures, etc. Dental ins does not begin to cover procedures like that. (I will take implants at 4K a tooth, Alex.)

OK as I said, my health ins benefits were cut, and my family came to this country 300 years ago. Settled in Pennsylvania. Fought the Indians. Built a home in Bucks Co in 1850. Other side started a general store, dairy herd, and orchards. PA health dept came to his farm in 1920 and used infected testers to check his herd. He lost a million dollar herd of cows. No reimbursement. He went bankrupt. Grandmother worked as a nurse nanny for the DuPont family. I am not exactly an illegal alien.

Yes!! Especially since things are starting to happen!!
A week ago, I got a nice big check because of the tax cuts being made and a notice that, also because of that, my monthly checks are going to be much bigger!! Then there's the dividend checks a lot of us will be getting next year and it was just announced that anyone who has a baby between Jan. and at least the end of his term will get $1000 invested in the baby's name and it'll stay there until they're 18.

I'm still having a little trouble walking and my legs refuse to heal up, although the wounds on my right leg seem to be going away. Abd, I STILL can't use the phone I just bought because NOBODY will help me get a fucking SIM card for it!!
The other good thing is that I FINALLY got the furnace installed a month ago!!

I wish I knew!! I had my birthday in July and the next thing I knew, I couldn't walk! I hope it'll be healed up, soon. Something to do with my left hip. The last several days, I've been getting around pretty good!
This one didn't. I got one from a local place that helps the poor get things they need and I've been on their ass about getting me a new one for 4 months and, so far, nothing!!
I bought it at Wal-Mart.

The government is corrupt, bloated, and stagnant. It has taken over 100 years to get there, with a lot of acceleration in the last few decades. The best way to fix it is drastically cut it down to size and reduce its power. You have to move really fast to get there in 4 years.
