These kinds of public debates unfortunately keep a lot of laymen wildly ignorant on the topic of addiction and recovery. Perry is 100% correct here, but people who either generally agree with Hitchens or think because he wrote about addiction in a book that he must be some sort of expert will choose ignorance rather than do the necessary research to learn more.
