Women and children first, is a concept that when emergencies occur, men should sacrifice for the "better good". Surely this is systemic misandry?

Boys and men are told they are the problem, they cause the problems, create hurdles and should keep themselves away until they are needed.

As a core value of society that ought to value all members equally, what should be done about this outdated and misandrist trope that we've been fed for centuries when shit starts hitting the fan and the whole "armageddon" scenario is idiotic to rebuild a society women are needed, (what as, construction workers or baby factories?) since that scenario is always thrown out at critics of the status quo which doesn't make sense as you need IMMEDIATE physical labour to set up and sustain a new human society not decades years of baby making and educating.

Is it time this phrase was consigned to the same place "happy wife, happy life" belongs in the sewer of history?

It’s never going away. Nobody really wants true equality, and they never will. The species will die out before meaningful change in this regard comes to pass.
We are products of evolutionary biology. Women used to select for men who sacrificed themselves for women and their offspring. Mostly because there were social and even legal penalties for not selecting that way. All of those negative consequences have been removed. Women are marrying men who sacrifice for them, but banging the losers who refuse to accept responsibility. Therefore the entire next generation will be made up of people born from selfish women and men. In my opinion, we’re already into that cycle. A cursory examination of the USA today will reveal millions of young losers who want everything given to them for nothing and begrudge the generations who came before and worked hard for everything they earned.
Good dudes are rarely even getting the chance to have kids. The deadbeats and criminals are outbreeding them ten to one anyway.
Being self sacrificing is a loser’s game now. Rescue a woman and get sued or even charged with a crime. Rescue a child and be accused of being a predator. Contrary to widespread ignorance, good samaritan laws are not guaranteed “get out of jail free” cards, not even close. Thousands of men and even a few women have ended up in prison or been sued into bankruptcy just for trying to help some stranger. You will NEVER be a “hero” in today’s America. It’s foolish to even try. What exactly do we do for our one in a billion heroes? “Thanks!”, and then forget about them completely and forever. You have everything to lose and absolutely nothing to gain.

At the same time as a normal guy, I've daydream where an emergency happens and I step up and become the hero of the day. I don't think these mind sets is malicious in anyway, but drawn out to the logical ends is bad for everyone.

I'm fine if men want to save themselves, just expect i will be doing the same for my family, even if it means at the cost of his life too, especially considering he is ready to sacrifice me and mine to save his own.

The reason women and children are considered to be spared though is because children can be raised to help rebuild society and women can repopulate it with a minimum amount of men.

It sucks it has to be that way for guys and I may not even agree with it, but women are infantilized by men so often that we are seen as children in some of their eyes and the perception we need to be spared in an act of self sacrifice (which others deem a heroic quality in men) is par for the course.

I think for the most part you are right about this, particularly in regard to women. Children not so much. I still think that both genders have a responsibility to protect children from harm. Women however not so much since they are no more valuable and according to them no less capable than men. Let all those strong independent women that don't need men rescue themselves.

I feel badly for him because I think he's needed treatment for a long, long time and of course has never been able to have it. And he suffered from that. And for that, I have the utmost sympathy.
