Why are the right and left in a constant war to prove who is the most despicable?

The "elites" trick the populace into this war so the populace is too busy thinking about how evil the other side is, to realize how evil both sides are. Why do you think whenever on side happens to have control of all of a branch or even multiple branches, nothing really changes? If things actually changed, then the "elites" would lose the platform they chant to get themselves voted in. It's all about control, and nothing controls the populace better than giving them something to hate, and the right and left elites found the balance to ensure nothing changes and they are forever in power.

democrats are seeking to get back into power so they can finish destroying our country. They will do and say anything no matter how despicable it is. Imagine celebrating the murder of the CEO of a healthcare company or a 31 year old man who as the leader of a conservative organization for young people.
Conservatives have been barely fighting back.

@Deserter3. I guess there is a lot of confusion about health insurance. The cheapest policy is usually not the most inclusive. Insurance is really gambling and the only way you win is to get sick.

Both sides want the things they like to be a right and the things they don't to be illegal. The only difference is what falls into which category.
Speech, guns = supported by the right
Drugs, alphabet community, government assistance for the poor = supported by the left.
There are a lot more, but those are some of the more core parts
