I think they were fishing boats and the fishermen were using nets or traps. There was no evidence of anything else. 55 mph is not very fast for small boats. Moreover, those boats cannot possibly contain enough fuel to make it to the United States, which is about 1,000 mi nautical miles away at its closest point. There's just no evidence that there was any drug smuggling coming from these boats my friend. Even if there was drug smuggling there has never been any fentanyl coming from Venezuela.

Have you ever been in that area? I have sailed extensively in that area and I've seen many of those boats.
