Trump is following US policy established since 1783. That is that the Americas are in US sphere of influence and to get and keep all other foreign powers out. Of course they tried and failed with the British in Canada but after 2 World wars Canada became more independent. They got spain out and bought the French out. Supported wars of independence to get the Portuguese and spainish out. They isolated cuba. The US has invaded countries in the Americas at various times in US economic and security interests, we all remember the banana wars.

Greenland is actually part of the Americas so the vikings discovered the Americas and mainland America long before columbus. Greenland is completely undefended and with global warming the artic is going to become very important for shipping and military security. Would just like to add that its not trump coming up with these plans and policies, they are long established
