Canadian, so close I guess. People were watching, but it definitely wasn’t promoted or really talked about. If it wasn’t for a couple buddies on facebook that used to play soccer I wouldn’t have the slightest clue who was playing or the results

Enthusiasm for soccer in the US is growing. It's very popular at the youth, high school and collegiate levels, and MLS attendance is up. For example, the Atlanta United Club often fills its home stadium with 70 thousand fans.

Proof that soccer is getting big in the US: A record 16.8 million US viewers tuned in to watch Argentina defeat France in a shootout. The audience size smashed the previous record of 14.5 million viewers set in 1994, when Brazil beat Italy in the US-hosted tournament.

However, the US is still enamored with American-football. As a comparison, Super Bowl XLIX in February 2015 between the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks remains the most-watched installment at 114 million.
