Because nobody has a high enough level of self awareness or discipline to hold more than a handful of people to a high level of scrutiny. The media is owned by large corporations, the government doesn’t really have a great framework to regulate them anymore because they don’t exactly need broadcast licenses anymore.

it’s very hard to follow a politician for years, build an emotional attachment to their message , learn their corrupt and push yourself to look past propaganda to find. Uncomfortable truths that threaten your self identity.

the media outlets understand this concept , they’ve greatly contributed to creating these pockets of society where changing your mind about someone could get you ostrazed from your circle of friends, family and even employment.

it’s much easier to blame one person. You can scroll on tik tok or instagram or YouTube and eventually there will be a narrative that fits into your beliefs about yourself well enough that you no longer feel the need to question them which has the second order effect of protecting your social position.

“Never” is inaccurate, but there is a disparity. Ultimately it’s the difference between the person who says “Start that house on fire!” and the person who actually sets the house on fire. The person taking action SHOULD shoulder the bulk of the accountability.
Particularly where the law is concerned, selective application can be a good thing or bad. There are thousands of dead letter laws on the books in the US. This is due in part to the cyclical nature of human behavior. It’s not always appropriate to enforce certain laws, but repealing them means that they can’t be enforced when it becomes appropriate again. Since law enforcement is the executive branch’s primary function, they get the blame for enforcing laws that should arguably be overlooked and for failing to enforce laws that arguably should be enforced.
Only if the legislature fails to address specific antisocial behaviors or loopholes in existing laws are they held accountable.

    In the current U. S?
Because the executive does things that by law can only be done by the legislative. He just does it and nobody seems to care.
In other countries especially non presidential democracies the legislative is generally blammed rightfully so.

Well in the Westminister System, the executive is part of the legislature. Saves time in finding people to blame, I guess. I don't know much about the German system. Since Merkel left it hasn't been on any Australian news.

So, would that not be the failure of the legislature in the execution of their constitutionally mandated duties?

The legislative is not forced to do X new laws per day. Yes they should do their job, but not making laws is not giving the executive the power to just do it. Its only supposed to be done in emergencies. Germany got rid of even that, because of how hitler came into power.
Germany has the same proboems as most other countries. Nazis try to get into power again and consevatives support them. We have one of the worst chancellors we had so far after the war and while disliked by everyone he does its thing. Internal problems, no time to do international stuff. Merkel didn't do anything internal so there was enough time for international stuff.

  • The executive branch is often more visible and has direct control over government operations, leading to it being an easy target for blame. The President or head of state is a recognizable figure, and their decisions are highly publicized. The legislative process is complex, with many members holding shared responsibility, which can diffuse blame. Additionally, media coverage tends to focus more on executive actions and leadership. In my experience, educating people about the roles and functions of each branch can foster a more balanced understanding and attribution of responsibility.

I believe its a lack of knowledge of how our government works. It would not surprise me if greater then half the population doesn't know how long terms are for the congress and senate much less why.

Huh? The Legislature is the first branch to be blamed for inaction. However, under this administration, the Executive branch earns blame for ANY actions. Biggest bunch of idiots the world has ever known running a government.

Just 12 months? lol. I don’t think they’ve done anything in the 32 years I’ve been alive.
