I'm saying this as someone who's left-leaning himself. And I'm talking about internal disagreement here. I'm not talking about disagreements with conservatives or the MAGA crowd. I'm personally strongly anti-Trump and anti-MAGA but that would be a completely different discussion.
What I'm talking about is that the left has become extremely intolerant towards other people on the left. These days you really can't have any sort of slight disagreement with other people on the left on many issues, without them freaking out, becoming enraged and throwing insults at you.
For example even if you're anti-Trump and you're anti-MAGA, but you dare to have a slightly nuanced opinion on mass migration you're immediately the enemy. And if you dare to criticize Islam that's a huge no-no of course. Islam MUST NOT be criticized within left-wing/left-leaning spaces. If you criticize Islam you're immediately branded as a racist who hates brown people. Same if you have a slightly differing view on DEI and affirmative action. If you criticize those concepts even in the slightest be prepared to be labeled a racist nazi white supremacist. And you MUST NOT criticize gender ideology under any circumstances. And there's all sorts of other stuff that just cannot be criticized under any circumstances according to those on the modern left.
And I'm saying that as someone who's left-leaning, and who's extremely opposed to Trump and MAGA. I could write a very long essay about everything that I despise in Trump and the modern conservative movement. But that's not the point of my post here. My point is that the modern left is hurting themselves by having become so extremely intolerant of internal dissent. If the modern left wants to regain broad popular support again, first of all they need to work on how they approach honest discussion and internal disagreements.
It's absolutely sad and ridiculous how extremely hostile and intolerant the modern left has become toward internal disagreement.
