I've been in jail many times. If anyone walked into jail and claimed they were innocent, they'd be laughed at. Seriously, they would. You'd have a hard time convincing anyone in jail that you are innocent.

Do innocent people sometimes get arrested and convicted? Yes. But not too damn many. If they are in jail, the odds are real high that they are guilty.

How would the president of the United States accomplish that? Fiddling with the fifth amendment would require amendment to the Constitution. Trump has no authority to do that. Trump, or more accurately Project 2025, want to do away the current Constitution altogether and replace it with sanctioned authoritarian laws. They can't get enough states to ratify a change, so they're trying to pick at it for right now. I'm not sure how this would change if the US goes under martial law. It might be easier to try and dissolve it then, but I'd have to research that.
