To people who travel, do you know people in other places are happier because their societies don't have as much users, materialistic people, etc?

In many countries that are not the United States the percentage of users and materialistic people are not in the majority. People only or mainly being in contact you for money, for status, etc is so common here and people giving importance to nonsense like nice cars, etc. Of course not everyone in the U. S. is like that but most are. It wasn't like that with the majority until like the early 2010s'.

People only wanting to talk or hang out or mainly wanting to because they are bored, etc. In other countries people do it without an alternative motive. And yes users are in other countries but not as much as America.

My wife and I are in the process of moving to SE Asia. We have rented a condo where most of the people living there are from other countries like the US, Europe, UK, Australia and Korea. Most can fit everything they own into 2 suitcases and a backpack. Getting rid of all my stuff was the most freeing thing I've ever done.

100% agree. The real irony is that people are leaving the West for Third World/Developing Countries for their health. Almost all my stress is eliminated because the people are friendly and the food is so much healthier because its fresh and not processed.

People using their friends when they are bored, only hitting them up when they need something, etc. It is ridiculous here. Also most people can't hold a long conversation one on one with a stranger unless they are drunk, high, or mentally ill. A lot of people will tell you"We are friendly, we ask how are you, say good morning, etc." That is a very short convo. Most people in many other countries are conversationalists with strangers a long time sober or under the influence. For example Americans make fun of Mexico yet they are happier.

I typically avoid Americans. I'm in Canada and I've done business in the US my whole adult life but I avoid the US. When I'm abroad, I usually hang out with other Canadians or Austrailians. Americans aren't fun to be around. Too much effort.

People born in America and Europe are very lucky Peripheral countries were exploited in order for the central capitalist countries to be rich, so a few countries were prosperous, I am in Turkey and this place is terrible, so appreciate it.
