Do you enjoy traveling more so statewide, domestically, or internationally?
#FeelFreeToList #PackYourBagsAndGo
Travel used to be really fun before the TSA bullshit after 911. And the covid thing made it undesirable. I'm not going to comply with covid passports or PCR tests, and I don't want to risk being quarantined.
I've driven through many parts of the U. S. The national parks and monuments are breathtaking. I love historic places. I find different types of landscape and traditional or charmingly rustic lifestyles delightful.
Outside the country, I've only visited a few places in Mexico and Europe.
Mexican architecture, history, and culture is delightful, and the landscapes - beaches, mountains, forests, jungles and deserts, as well as flora and fauna - are as varied as the U. S.
I've visited the Irish Republic twice, once for 7 days and the second time for two weeks. I gravitated to thatched roof houses, ancient ruins, artwork, culture, and historic stuff. The Bunratty Folk Park and the medieval banquet at the castle were highlights. We stayed in some amazing bed and breakfasts. I enjoyed Dublin's music and night life but the city is also chocked full of history, art and architecture. I LOVE Ireland!
I've been to Germany, France, Luxembourg, Belgium and England. The area I enjoyed the most was the "romantische strasse" (Romantic Road) part of Germany with real castles and ancient towns.
I also love good food. Regional foods in the U. S. and around the world are amazing. The foods that average people in those regions find delicious is usually better than that in expensive, touristy places. Some of the best food I've ever eaten was from local, family owned establishments. They don't have to be fancy to have wonderful food and ambience.
I'm not much interested in modernity. It all looks the same to me. Steel, glass and concrete architecture, crowded boulevards full of neon signs and billboards, noise, modern hotels, and fast food are turn offs.
Regarding hotels, though, I HAVE stayed in some absolutely wonderful resorts.
So, yes, I enjoy traveling. It's just sad that government and corporate regulations have ruined it to a certain extent.
Wow you’ve been a lot of places
Internationally… as per 2010 & 2013-2014. Unfortunately, I don't travel much, since school & work have generally dominated my life.
But, I enjoy vacations back in the Philippines, since I can re-connect with family, explore my old hometown in the National Capital Region, and just indulge in good-ol' stuff of childhood (& the new, too!) just unavailable here in the U. S., even with our Asian markets (which are more calibrated to our neighbors: the Vietnamese in by short stay in Florida, while the Chinese & Koreans here in North Carolina). Plus, I can speak my other native-language and reasonably expect and (actually!) to be understood.
Unfortunately, there were still some things I hadn't done that are still in my bucket-list (ex. pay my respects to my paternal grandparents after more than a decade of their passing, which didn't happen since my super-pragmatic father who already it when it happened scheduled us to re-connect with our still-living relatives during our 1-day stay in his home-province; explore potential business-opportunities; enjoy an republic-wide food-trip, to expand my knowledge outside of Metro Manila!).
I also have other plans in other nations, so (as soon as the time is ripe and my budget is ready) my passports & visas should be ready!
Of course, that doesn't mean I don't enjoy vacations here in the U. S., too! Aside from visiting aunts in New York & California, Colonial Williamsburg is definitely in my list, as is Fort Ross & the tourist-areas of the First Nations (using the Canadian term, since there seems to be a generational-dispute on preference of "Native American" vs. "Indian").
Wow you’ve been everywhere
@Jamie05rhs Indeed, and thanks, man! I'm looking forward to seeing it.
Cool! :)
As far as I can by car, not a fan of flying and how difficult it is to fly. TSA nightmare to get through, limits in what you can take... I can take a bunch of stuff and have room for souvenirs via car... vs. having to ship stuff home when flying somewhere. Plus flying, I usually get some guy who falls asleep and leans on me.
Not saying I won't travel internationally, but I usually only have a week off at a time, that seems too short to go over sea's.
Makes sense for sure
In general, I don't like travel and don't.
If I do, I'd travel internationally.
Only a few countries I wanna visit... but really just interested I the food... and wanna visit one country for everything, including the language . secret country. .. msybe
Lmao sounds like me

Actually, all of the above. Though my favorite is international - having visited 36 countries.
Specifically, Canada, Mexico, Bahamas, Belize, Barbados, Grenada, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Aruba, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Ireland, United Kingdom, Portugal, Spain, Andorra, France, Monaco, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Austria, Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Italy, San Marino, Vatican City, Malta, Montenegro, Republic of Georgia.
That said, I have also visited Puerto Rico and every American state east of the Mississippi River except Minnesota, Arkansas and Mississippi. Also visited the states of Missouri, Texas and California. (I am a Michigan native who currently reside, with my girlfriend and our three children, in the northern Virginia suburbs of Washington, DC.)
The funny part is that although I have been to various parts of my home state and I do like it - during the spring and summer (I cordially loathe fall and winter anywhere) - I probably have spent less time traveling in Michigan than I ought to have. I guess I tend to take it for granted.
Overall, though, as you can tell, I love to travel and would do more if I had the time.
Gooood Lord. And yea there's nothig here in MS aside from casinos which i loooove
Thanks for the "thumbs up/emoji."
Oh,, as to Mississippi, give your home state a look. Check out your state's tourism website. Frankly, I underrated my home state until I started looking into it.
Who knows? You might be pleasantly surprised. For my part, for whatever reason I have not just had the chance to visit the state named after "the father of waters." It was not a deliberate omission on my part. I bet if you look around, you'll find stuff above and beyond the casinos.
(Frankly, I am not much of a gambler. I only did so in Monte Carlo (Monaco) because the casino was so famous that I had to check that box. That said, if you like casinos, if you ever get the chance, give Monaco a try. You will love it.
They mostly have nature related stuff and historical stuff here. Im not into that
State and internationally. There just are nearby cities that you never visited and take for granted. They are worth the visit.
Internationally because I love the different cultures delicacies places and attractions they have for you to discover. It's also great to not be surrounded by anything that reminds you of home, to put your mind on vacation and vacation only.
P. S. Can I talk to you in private? I have been meaning to talk to you for about a week. Based on your Questions I believe that you can help me out.
A city would have to have an amusement park, huge mall (with places i never shopped before), good ass looking food or a casino to make me want to visit. Those are about the only reasons i’d leave my current city/state. And sure ask me anything
Im not that outdoorsy unless im at a beach or theme park so i look for indoor fun
less internationally nowadays. The more I see of the USA the more I realize I have no need to travel abroad really. I have people speaking the same language as me and we have dense woods, swamps, mountains, deserts, valleys, hills, plains, beaches, lakes, rivers, honestly why do I need to live? We have more natural beauty then any other country really. A much more diverse terrain too. I can trust my doctors here a whole hell of a lot more overall. And if a crime is committed I can report it to the authorities or I can call 9-1-1 and expect the police to show up at some point. Also I have my constitutional rights intact in most states.
I agree with the us having such a diverse terrain and so much attractions that i dont see the need to leave. Thats why i said i could only see myself going to Canada or Bahamas for the additional scenery but of course still the main language of English. And then if i go to Australia, its more so for the accents, extra beaches and food but yea
exactly. The east and west coasts are very different in looks, feel, and to some degree, culture. Different wildlife, different styles and ways of living. Plus because we are a melting pot I can basically see places like Mexico, Puerto Rico, Cuba, etc without having to actually go. It's the beauty of it all.
I have been to so many countries that i lost count and i travel domestic too all the time. I like both and i can't choose just one. Sweden has breathtaking nature and wonderful sightseeing and very nice people and other countries has everything else to offer.
Nice
I don't leave California very often, but keep in mind that California has nearly every kind of climate within its borders: ocean and beaches, hills and valleys, deserts, mountains and snow, forests, plains, even swamps. Having said that, I've been to something like 42 states, so I've done plenty of traveling and exploring. The US is a pretty damn big place.
Yea it is
I’m divided. Even though I really love international travel and have seen quite a bit of the world, flying has just become so, so shitty. Covid just made it even worse. And now with many countries requiring proof of vaccination I’ve simply decided it’s no longer worth the hassle. Traveling has become undignified. Getting to the airport hours early. Taking your shoes off. Getting frisked. Waiting in lines. Cramped seating with screaming babies and people who you have to wrestle with for a few inches of armrest space. Wearing a mask for hours while some person screams at you for taking it down for thirty seconds too long.
I’d rather just get in my car and drive.
Yea i def hated the cramped feeling and i forgot about the masks on planes and stuff
I haven't traveled much in my life. Arkansas when I was about 9 years old. Then in '15 I went to a few places in Mexico for the whole month of December. We stopped in El Paso, TX before crossing the border to eat something but I didn't get to really see anything. I watch that NCIS:New Orleans. I'd like to go there. I've been to Chicago many times bc I'm in Wisconsin
Yea i’ve mostly been through the southern states
Here too , I love traveling interstate , just cruising on an open Rd/hwy , it's been awhile since I've taken off , but hoping that things will come into alinement and I'll take off and just be free , I'm from Australia, but I'm trying the opposite, I would love to travel all over the place in the United states,
Australiaaaaa 😍
I enjoy traveling. It's fun to see what other countries are like. I was going to Russia. The trip was to start from St Petersburg to Ukraine. And having a lecture from the former president of the Soviet Union Mr. Gorbachev. Until a newfound dictator flexing his muscles in Russia put a stop to the trip.
Oh wow
Internationally because you get a whole different vibe…like tropical rainforest sounds…monkey climbing coconut trees…
Different than continental USA… 20 plus hour flights suck..
Damn
Me and a buddy of mine started taking road trips every few weeks with the state just picking a direction and driving or exploring all the different towns.
we went to little Switzerland last time it’s pretty fun.
Little Switzerland? Damn Murica got a little of everything huh lol
I like (and do) them all, but international is probably most interesting... the cultures and history of other countries are so different and interesting to experience.
Best is to fly to a foreign country, tour around it for several days, then take a cruise that stops at several other countries. You get to experience a lot while still relaxing onboard between ports-of-call.
Yea if i go to AU, i wanted to cruise to a few different islands
I so want to travel it's my number one go too thing I am generally looking forward to do in the future, I have been interested in going too France, Japan, Canada, and I also wouldn't mind traveling to Brazil.
Once upon a time Paris and Brazil interested me
What made you stop being interested in those two places or is the news about them that makes you lost interest in them.
Yea with Paris it was all the attacks back then. Plus the french accent doesn't appease me. As for Brazil, i dated someone from there and the things experienced by black people over there just turned me off. It isn't the place for me. Australia probably isn't much better so it is odd i’d still go there. But I don't know
Internationally is my favourite. I love to experience cultures that are totally different than mine. And climates.
I’d love to sightsee but a different climate wouldn't interest me. As for the cultural aspect, the food interests me but not so much of the language
I've done a lot of international travel. I think a lot of Americans should travel to be educated. So many Americans HATE their own country but haven’t traveled and experienced how lucky they are to live in America. There is so much corruption, danger, and rules/regulations that Americans would hate if they experienced it. In a lot of places, you can’t even leave your bags in the hotel because the staff will rob you. In other places you have to be careful of the food or you’ll get very sick. So many other things. You can see how tourism has also completely destroyed some countries. The only place in the world where people tip is in America. Americans did this in other countries and it caused chaos. Now there is severe corruption and scamming in tourist areas because foreigners are tipping and throwing money everywhere.
Yea i dont hate my country nor do I love it, but i respect it and am comfortable in it. And dude the hotel staff in the USA will rob tf outta you too lmao. I dont take valuables with me ever especially in Vegas. I only tip if i truly liked the person and the service. No ones guaranteed a tip from me unless its automatically put in the bill
I’m done with international traveling and stateside traveling. I have been to over 40 countries, almost 3 years in Alice Springs, Australia, and have been to most every state except in the NW. I enjoy staying home now, fucking my life away.
Lol homebodies are the best and you give it a new meaning 🤣
@DizzyDesii Thank you for the Like
For me internationally but not near my country (italy). My part of the world is boring and been practically everywhere in and around my country already anyways
Ohh i see
I like traveling domestically... I don't like dealing with airports really.
I dont blame you
@DizzyDesii Especially overseas... Can you imagine dealing with lost luggage in a country where you don't speak the language? It is hard enough domestically.
Yea i’d only go to a place where English is the primary language
I prefer domestic travel. I'd like to visit a lot more places here in the U. S.
Same
I love international travel and learning about different cultures, experiencing other ways to live, and think. One thing I don't like however, no matter where they are - big cities.
Big cities are the only thing i would travel too haha
