Why does Law enforcement dislike pedo hunters?

We’ve seen Chris Hanson, famous for interviewing these kind of people. But when an average person hunts these people down, apparently police don’t like that. Why? I think stopping these predators is a good thing

There was a divorced man who was depressed and lonely and always dated girls his age, and than a pedo hunter pretending to be a teenager girl pursued him for months and tricked him into thinking he found a younger girlfriend. When he was arrested and threatened with jail, he killed himself. He was already very lonely, mentally ill, desperate, poor, and recovering from abuse. The only reason he agreed to date a teenage girl is that she pursued him and tricked him into thinking it was l real. He would never have killed himself if he was not tricked with false bait. If she had left him alone, he would have gotten married to a new woman within his age range and the pedo situation would not even exist.

Yes. But he would never have considered her if she did not pursue him. He was recently divorced and already suicidal and she exploited his desperation and chased him.

He could’ve blocked her, reported her to police. Why not be the adult and say no?

I am not totally sure, but if I were to guess it would be for 2 reasons. The first being that they don't like being shown up at their own job. The second being that they need to gather evidence and with Ai being what it is today, they probably can't use what a private citizen gathers for them in a court of law. Not entirely sure the last one applies, but that would be my guess.

Because people who have engaged in this sort of thing, who are not law enforcement, are not trained or careful. They are typically very angry, and they frequently make mistakes. They also get in the way of legitimate law enforcement efforts to bring these people to justice. There is absolutely no reason for anybody to try to do the job of law enforcement when they aren't trained to do it.

Going too far is subjective, and legal routes very often fail. That's why they are necessary. Justice, vs no justice.

They act outside the law, and that is going too far. As for legal methods failing, do you mean they don't produce the outcome you want? That's just the way life is. You need to get used to that.

So I'll use myself as an example. My ex violently and routinely beat me to the point of permanent damage. He violently raped me and tried to murder me. Anything happened? Just a restraining order, that he routinely violated. No jail, no trial. The only reason he's in jail now, is because he raped a child and got caught making and distributing child porn. Shit you can dm me and ill give you his name and shit.
But anyway, that shit happens all the time, and most never see a day in prison. So are we supposed to just accept horrific shit was done to us or loved ones and no justice is coming? Fuck that.
