not hugely attached to either. i've historically been very moderate and have voted for members of both parties in various elections

but certainly todays "republican" party has certainly pushed me further from whatever platform/policies they endorse/support

A party name isn't enough to convince me of anything. There are bad actors in both the Democrat and Republican party, but the Democrat party is pretty much 100% corrupt at the moment where as the Republican party is roughly 60% corrupt. Therefore the Republican party is the vehicle to change. That said I wouldn't blindly vote for a party, I have to evaluate each candidate every election and if bad ones slip in even on the right ticket, then they have to be primaried so as to at least clean up one party.

I don't favor either one more than the other. There are things I like from both. What I hate is the far right MAGA morons who are hate mongering cultists. I am more prone to like moderate republicans who can actually compromise like John McCain.

Back in the day, we had honest dialog and debate between GOP and DNC. Now the DNC has lost its mind. Republicans have acquired former Democrat populism. Their internal squabbles are the new two party system. The DNC have become radical opponents living in the margins. They will foment uprising and they will bleed.

I have mostly voted for Republicans , mainly more in common and a lack of Independents running. I think I voted for maybe 5 or 6 Democrats in my life. But I may vote straight Democrat this next election. I will give results after I see who is on the ballot.

Favoring one or the other at this point is like this:

Being a parent of two children.
One is outright evil.
The other is outright stupid or incompetent.

As a parent, making a choice of a favorite child isn't exactly palatable.

I will vote for anyone that I think will make things better. I have voted Democrat and Republican. I have been voting Republican now because they have positive ideas. Democrats are full in full if hate and have nothing constructive to offer.
