I was thinking that even if Trump was convicted of anything, that JD Vance would just pardon him once he got in. Is there anything from stopping this happening? Is it stupid to think Trump will pay for his crimes?

Sure in a country that has lost all morality and conscience to worship criminality, wealth, and power there is nothing stopping anyone with power from doing anything.
Yes. President Gerald Ford granted a full, free, and absolute pardon to former President Richard Nixon on September 8, 1974. The proclamation covered all federal offenses that Nixon "committed or may have committed" during his presidency.
@Sevenpointfive. Thanks for the MHO.
Autopen did it as well.
@Sal_Monella There is no question that he can. He probably will to avoid more vengeful lawfare.
I still feel karma will come and hit trump right square in the nuts. Be it all the illegal things he is getting away with at the moment due to a woke republican congress and senate or some real voices from the Epstein world will come forth proving trump a pedafile that we all know he is. You just don't get that amount of smoke around something without a fire starting and it will. That will be the downfall of the entire administration
I mean he can't pardon him from a conviction in Den Haag.
i don't know enough about this. how would the icc get him to bring him to justice? who would do that?

@Sevenpointfive oh yes, hell yes, Donald Trump should pay for all of his crimes.... wait? What crimes? Lying to Congress, Rape, Child abuse, Theft of public funds, going to war without the consent of congress,
I'm sure you can add to the list... I'm sure you are well versed in all of the Presidents "crimes" ?
i have a feeling you can add murder, ritual sacrific of a baby, sexual assault, fornication, i think he even broke some mormon laws
Yes, there are. Presidential pardons are only for Federal crimes. If Trump were convicted of state crimes as well as federal ones, the President could do nothing about those convictions. He could try to get Congress to pass a law giving him that power, but that's a long shot at best.
Also, the USA does NOT currently recognize the jurisdiction of the International Court and that won't change if Vance is President. But what if that changed with a Democratic administration? If Trump were jailed on federal or state charges, the IC might demand he be arraigned to faced war crimes charges. Wouldn't THAT be a trip?
None of that will happen though, because Trump's dementia will render him useless sometime in 2026. He'll either be removed from office by the 25th amendment, or resign, or die. They might even fake his death, who knows?
What I want to know is how New York charged and prosecuted Trump with Federal charges in a state court, since when do states prosecute federal charges? How did the AMERICA LAST DEMOCRATIC COMMUNIST PARTY OF AMERICA get him charged with what would be federal charges in a state court? Someone, please, explain how this is done.
@darkcloud1945 As far as I understand it, the crimes were both federal and state crimes. Misappropriation of Federal funds was not what the State of NY tried him for. NY State indicted him for falsifying NY State business records. Since that also involved criminal activity on a Federal level, there could have been an indictment from Merrick Garland, but he did not pursue it.
That's not the point of my comment on the IC though. I realize your hatred for the Dems precludes any ability you might have left to critically analyze which party has a better record of governing, especially financially. And I also realize you think I'm praising the Dems as being great, which I'm not.
What I am saying is the numbers don't lie, and their policies are not destructive like the R's. Are they great? Hell no, but I don't expect you to look at historical data OR get past your ignorance at this time, seeing how I can't imagine the LAST time you competently and critically analyzed ANYTHING the R's did to the USA.
Why not! President Sleepy Biden pardoned thousands of known criminals with an auto pen. Why would you pardon someone who has done nothing wrong? Oh ! His name is Trump; he must have done something wrong. We do not have a clue as to what, but because it is Trump, he must have done something
greasing the parole board. i like it.
Once President Trump's term is over there will be no reason for democrats to make up some more fake crimes for him. Besides, they will be too busy trying to make up fake charges against President Vance.
is complicity in treason a crime?
can't argue with that
The Democrats will still try to bankrupt President Trump.
@Sal_Monella i sure hope we freeze all of his assets and russia's. get melania and all sons as well. it sounds harsh but he ruined his family. they'll be okay in russia, but i think those related are in for a rude awakening when he's taken from power.
I've always thought this for years - even in 2020, that Pence or another Republican would just Pardon Trump.
But not as vice president, only if either one has become or had become the president - I am not too familiar with legal powers of US Presidents
. I'm Australian duh 🙄 😉
Sure looks so shockingly different clean shaven 👀👀👀👀
i hear y'all are having your own problems down there as well. the jews ransacked your government as well.
There appears to be a rift between Trump and Vance this week and they don't agree on the war with Iran
that's interesting. he is heritage foundation, so we're still looking at project 2025. that means he's pro-civil war and for government restructuring. that's kind of good but if done wrong could be incredibly bad!
I read his book Hillbilly Eligibly when it came out and really liked it. I hope he goes back to being that person.
do you think he's putting on an act? being a dick to get along? he seems convicted in his words about some bad shit. i don't think anyone is that good of an actor? but it's weird that i want it to be true.
I'd like to think that he has core beliefs and this isn't what he signed up for. Eighteen months ago you couldn't convince me the US would be better with Harris. Now, I'm not sure, but I don't care what party is in office as long as they are conservative, capitalist, and pro-business, all of which Trump isn't. I think Vance is but he compromised himself to take the VP job. He'll regret taking the VP job just like Pence does.
it will be interesting to see. i'm not really looking forward to it or what might happen.
That’s what (unfortunately) happened after Gerald Ford took over from Richard Nixon.
is that the plan?
Who really knows, it's all so arbitrary and impulsive with these people. Let's see what their ideas for dealing with the midterms (!!!) will be.
it would make the midterms more meaningful if he was convicted.
What crimes are we talking about? There's been no crimes.
you can't prosecute a president. so when he's not president there will be crimes to pay for.
Like what?
what they are currently building a case for, epstein.
Soooo, nothing!! More ways to waste our tax money on frivolous bullshit that's gonna amount to NOTHING!!!
yes. money is made up dude. the math doesn't math anyways.
Can you say that in English?
it means none of that shit is real. he's going to get away with it. if we do finally get to try him he'll probably die of a heart attack or he'll be somewhere in russia. never to be seen again.
Get away with what? NONE of what you claim is real!!
Pardon him from what? The President can only pardon federal crimes, and Trump's sole conviction was for a state crime.
Yeah, but there's no reason they couldn't impeach JD as well.
At the end of the day power rules all. And money determines power.
but then we'd have to impeach everyone until a democrat?
In US it probably could and Americans seem ignorant of this ridiculous situation of get out of crime free cards when you know people
It depends on what the crime is and what crime the person has been convicted of. The US president cannot pardon state crimes but the president can pardon federal crime offences.
Yes but they've been trying to convicted Trump since he announced he was running for president against Hillary for the 2016 election and they got nothing. Even what they did get was such horseshit that it actually helped him get elected.
yeah. they couldn't do anything with the epstein files at the time biden was in. it's a shame we didn't get alerted to them sooner.
The Epstein files have been around for 20 years. We were never going to hear about them because bill Clinton is in them.
and we probably only got them released because hillary was never going to be president
Yes and he ONE HUNDRED PERCENT would, since Beardo would be nobody without his Orange Massa !!!
Title, yes.
Follow up. No. Only his choice.
Trump is very old. He'll flip you off from the grave.
Yes, it is stupid. As a government employee it is the tax payer who would pay for any crimes.
VP Maybelline would , yes
doesn't that make everything pointless until we can get to a point where we can charge him? after vance, johnson and so on? this could take a long time.
That could happen.
he's going to pull a nixon
No. The pardon is only for certain crimes.
For federal crimes yes
There is nothing to stop him from doing that.
For what?
