It's not that Iran controls the Straight Of Hormuz. Any nation state in that region can fuck up the the Straight Of Hormuz. It's a relatively small area with heavily concentrated shipping traffic carrying the world's energy supply. And there is no alternate route for slow oil tankers. The Straight is a shooting gallery. Anyone who looks at a map of the Persian Gulf for 30 seconds would realize the Straight is a choke point for energy. But our child brain orange Man Baby was blind to the risks. Pretty sure the fact he staged the American navy there to assault the Iranian navy is clear indicator he knew. Knowing has nothing to do with it. The strait is narrow and can be assaulted by any land near there. It isn't some vast ocean dividing lands. That is also likely why trump is pushing for others to undergo the future oversight of it. Because it can be done easily from any surrounding land mass compared to boats from the US patrolling.

Iran is the country that has the capability to control when many of its sea mines detonate in the Strait of Hormuz.
If ships from countries Iran doesn’t approve of enters the strait of Hormuz it’s going to be dangerous for them because Iran is the country that has the capability to control and detonate the sea mines.
