Why are so many social media celebrities famous for no real reason?

I think that’s the worst thing about modern social media. We have all these so-called celebrities who add nothing of any value to the world

I am currently attending a business academy that specifically focuses onto how we even sell our products or ideas to people, and the best answer I can give you is that they know which type of people these specific celebrities appeal to, so they target the target audiance for these people first to gain a wider and more secured audiance first. And eventually they blow up to be famous.

Best example I could give you now from the top of my head is Sabrina Carpenter. She is a Nepo Baby, so that obviously gave her a push. Plus its a lot more benefitical for people in business to coorparate with a certain someone who already has got money on their hand and a safe base to start from without losing profit. Random people wouldn't add so much to their wallet sadly and they would risk more to lose. This already shows the goal and intention with these type of people now. The focus is not on individuality or real talent. Its to secure what you wanna sell. Sabrina's target audiance is obviously mainly young women, so thats where the marekting team gathers her to so they have a safe space to sell in. The rest of how big her name has become was all upon the crowd that watches her to spread her name, making her into a trend.

sometimes you could come from a privileged start and still be talented. For example, who doesn’t like Michael Douglas? But of course, there are some nepo babies who are very undeserving.

Sadly thats true. But using Nepo babies is easy money. I would also rather be for talent but that, but the people who now ourdays are involved with this stuff only care about profit and quick outcomes.

Famous for being famous or being crazy? Like the Housewives of Atlanta, or MTV cribs folk were? Or Clavicular, a young guy who's shot himself up with testosterone and broken facial bones to look more masculine?

They add something to the lives of the people who follow them because their lives are amiss. Value is in the eye of the beholder. And is sometimes misplaced.

If all you value is popularity, then such folk are icons to you. But there are content creators who do good things. There's one guy who teaches folk how to fix their cars because he never had a dad around to teach him those things. He's on YouTube. So he's a mentor. That's valuable.

You can find good content. But there's a sea of content that is strange and practically worthless. Tread carefully.

Social media platforms promote people that push their company's agendas. So if you say there are a bunch of people that are famous on social media for doing nothing, then the agenda of the social media platforms that you use, is to encourage average people that use their site to do nothing and become unproductive citizens to demoralize a population and crush a population.

They promote the behavior they hope to see in most people. So if they are promoting worthless people, they hope to make more people worthless.

No celebrity adds anything of any value ot the world. Hollywood and Nashville are a joke. We pay millions of dollars per year to circus clowns, but Doctors and Engineers barely make ends meet.

A lot of doctors and engineers are paid very well. Not as well as big-time celebrities but still. There’s doctors who make close to $1 million a year.

Social media rewards attention, consistency, timing, relatability, and algorithms not necessarily depth or substance.

If something captures attention, it spreads, whether it’s meaningful or not.

From a quick google search it looks like she’s a beauty influencer who got famous because she was able to tell relatable stories of insecurity, she also has a BBA, which I would guess is in a form of marketing. That, combined with a conventionally attractive appearance that she carefully manicures for a life in front of a camera, tells me that it was a combination of telling the right story and viral marketing that got her to where she is now, and now she’s currently a member of the upper social classes, which also naturally make her more likable to the average joe because of the fantasy of luxury her life presents

to be fair, influencers can and do shape politics and modern culture more than mainstream celebrities like pro-athletes and movie stars just by simply talking

at least for some of the actors, they actually train at a craft and are very good at it and I think they had something of worth to our society. Posting random shit on social media not so much.
