No offense to all the veterans and military personnel that have dedicated their lives time and courage to the military, those that sacrificed as well, their hearts were always in the right place but is there even a point in joining the military, at this point you aren't protecting your country, you aren't even protecting your family, you are just fighting for petty politicians with ego trips, even freedom is just an illusion, realistically the only thing you are fighting for is a salary, which can be done without having to put your life on the line, going to higher your chances of leaving your fam fatherless and wife a widow cause some coward in an office told you so, what is the military even fighting for, you can't even say it proudly cause the reason is ridiculous, the reason is fuckin oil 😂

I never had any interest in joining the military. I was too rebellious and was having too much fun being carefree.

I'm glad that the draft ended the year I became eligible. I didn't want to go to Viet Nam to kill people who never threatened the United States. And I didn't want to get PTSD, maimed or killed.
I knew older guys who went there and weren't the same when they returned.

And, just like every other war this country has been in since WWII, what was the point? To expand the U. S. empire. They sure as hell had nothing to do with defending the U. S., defending human rights, or spreading democracy.

They actually almost reinstated the draft, because we had a record low number of applicants because young people are getting smart and starting to realize the things you're talking about.

I joined Air Force ROTC in college. I had plans to become a pilot. This was after the Vietnam War and it was not very popular to join the military. I used to get dirty looks on the days I had to wear my uniform on campus. Still I would have been proud to serve my country if I did not get dropped from the program because of a an eye test.
