Will you join the military if so why?

I did join and to get out of poverty and other stuff.
It allowed me to learn a trade and they paid for degrees related to my trade.
It also allowed me to have my daughter attend a decent school, where being Forces, receive a grant towards it.
it also allowed me to be a volunteer within society for various things, including about 8 years working as a volunteer at a counselling centre.
We also helped out during things like Foot and mouth outbreaks, major flooding and rescuing people from houses etc
while im out now, over Covid in the UK, the military were called in to help with everything from building Nightingale Wards, manning covid testing centres, casualty evac and also working on the frontline with other nurses and doctors.
A lot of civilian doctors and nurses also volunteer as reservists in the military and learn how to treat major trauma victims, which when working back in the UK, helps saves the lives of civilians.
Having things such as Royal Air Force on your CV / Resume, really does help with getting a job.
Then when talking to say other people in the US who work with same company, being a ‘Vet’ actually means you share a common bond.
Yeah best decision I ever made was joining the military.
As a Christian I am a conscientious objector. The Bible says a slave of God has no need to fight. Jesus told Peter to put his sword away when he cut off the ear of one of the men who came to lead Jesus away to die. So he set the pattern and commanded his true followers to love one another. Also, because I recognize God as the only rightful commander in chief, I could not in good faith join my allegiance to any human government, though I do respect its laws.
Nah my husband is in the army and I don't mind supporting him but would never want to do it myself
@Apple1996 you're cute and kinky 🤗
I did want to be an army doc once. There's still some regrets there

I am 71, my Father joined in 1942 World War II, "Pacific Theater" against Japan, he met my mom there (Hawaii) they married and raised a family, in 1950 I was born.. we grew up "In the Army" living on Army Bases, shopping at the "Base Post Exchange" (PX)... going to schools on Base, attended by all military kids... after 18 years... I was old enough to be on my own and NO desire to Join the ARMY... 18 years was enough...
No, I am too old. I tried to join once but could not pass the physical.
I did, I'm proud of my service. If you're not willing to sacrifice to maintain the integrity and safety of your country, my first question is, why not?
Because I'm not that stupid to give away my freedoms, be far away from my family and to satisfy the ever out of control egos of power hungry, lying greedy political scumbags under the guise of patriotism and pride.
I don't give away my freedom like that to serve others. Sorry, not sorry. 🤷♂️
If you are not willing to sacrifice for your freedoms you don't deserve them.
@justaboredhuman I'm glad you said it. I feel the same way. We have this wonderful country where we CAN live in peace, but if you're not willing to sacrifice some of your time for that country, move to one that doesn't offer you the choice.
i work with the military a lot. happiest group of people to be around. they're smart, mature, they don't take things personally, and interesting to talk to.
They get abused. Many of them complain about the treatment.
I would join all over again if I could. I miss it like crazy.
Why was it good?
When they boss you around all the time?
Believe it or not they do not really boss you around as much as you would think. Once you get past basic training and a-school/ait/whatever the job training, most commands are chill. They give you orders related to the mission, but that is no different than a boss at a job. The only time you get bossed around once you are fully in the military is when you do something stupid or dangerous.
I’d like to contribute what I can because I care about my country plain and simple
I am a Navy vet and would do it again. I’m not a cowardly pussy afraid of death
It's not about being a coward, it's about being smart. The government doesn't care for the soliders, but rather their own political ego and will use you as a pawn to a means even if it's an unjust mean at your expense, health and life. That's what you call a sucka.
Nah. You’re a coward. They had a job that was my dream and it was the only way I could get trained. I couldn’t afford trade school. I joined so I could do my dream job and dying for my dream was reasonable to me. I stayed in for my contract, got out and took my proof working to the FAA. They gave me authorization to take the exams needed which I did. I passed them all and got my license to work on airplanes.
Soliders in the military say you are just a number. If you think out of the several hundred thousands of people enlisted in there care about you then I have a oceanfront house to sell you in Arizona.
Perfectly fine. My brother is a veteran too.
No, I wouldn’t want to be in the military.
Man I've been trying. They dont like my deformed hips tho 😂
If I was drafted yes of course
Why would you go? What great purpose it serves? They brainwash people there to do the bidding of some moron in a presidential house protected by arms guards 24/7
Let him and his family go fight his damn war or whatever beef he has going on.
I'll be in prison for a few years with my limps or go back to my heritage country.
I will not be someone's fool to be bossed around in the military or go to fight for their greed, ego and political muscle to flex while he sits in his presidential palace nice and safe with his family eating dinner from a 5 star chef. He can eff off.
I already done it 1 year...
Wars are still happening?
Nope, no reason to.
I wish I did
