But I wouldn’t spit on them if they were on fire either.

"Living well" is the best revenge. This doesn't JUST include happiness, but also having a reasonably fulfilling and successful life. No one's life is perfect, of course, so that's an unrealistic standard, but reasonably fulfilling and successful is definitely attainable.

I don't see the point in trying to connect happiness (positive) with revenge (negative). To me those things are polar opposites. If I seek or find happiness it is not so I can rub it in the face of some asshole. I tend to put the assholes in the rearview mirror very quickly. My happiness is my happiness, not my revenge.

I don't usually try to get revenge. I'm more the type to distance myself from problematic people. I have a saying that goes "You should leave bad people, not become them." I think living well is awesome, but I don't necessarily want to rub it in my ex-wife's face. She's the type of person to continue ruining my life. I'm best to avoid her completely.

It seems so. My prior wife who left we for another man, while I was at work, after she had been having an affair for months, has contacted me several times, inquiring about my wellbeing, and I tell her I have moved on with my life and have no ill will towards her.

It's not easy to be happy when your life sucks. Besides, what's the point of "revenge"? Karma will take care of the ones who did evil things to you. Sure, you need to be patient, but eventually, it will get them.
