05 Reply- 3 mo
As a practical matter they cannot refuse because the consequences of refusal are so dire. I just saw a program where a former army major was talking about his retirement early from the service and his reason for doing so was that he didn't want to be involved in war crimes. That may be the only way out for a lot of these folks. Unfortunately. They wind up having to give up their career to avoid becoming criminals.

Actually, I am re-reading my own comment. I will say that, of course, they can refuse an order. However, if they do, the penalties generally involve spending a lot of time in the military prison and being dishonorably discharged from the service, which in the United States is a very big deal. Very few people are willing to go through these penalties so they can refuse an order.

3 moI think that's the only way to achieve regime change and preventing Iran from having nukes. If Trump decides to go with conventional missiles and ground troops he gets the US into another Vietnam/Afghanistan quagmire. Both will result in sky high oil prices and alienate the US from the rest of the world further. The only other option is going full TACO. All the countries that the US wants to sign trade deals with are all negotiating with Iran to buy their oil and secure safe passage through the Strait. It's an embarrassing loss for Trump but it will result in cheaper oil, lower probability of recession and less American military deaths.

@Amy10223 India, China, Russia, Iraq, Pakistan, Thailand, Korea, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, Spain and France are currently shipping through the Strait. Canada, Australia, Brazil, South Africa and most EU countries are openly negotiating with Iran for oil and safe passage now that sanctions against Iran selling oil have been lifted.
TACO stands for Trump Always Chickens Out
I hope not. I try not to follow the news because it's so stressful. It's a bunch of stuff I can't change.

3 moIs Tuesday a better day of the week than other days for dropping nukes on places?
14 Reply- 3 mo
Well, it's supposed to be Tuesday: nuke day, Wednesday: bridge day (if there's any bridges left), Thursday: I don't know, negotiating for peace and the rebel day, and the next day is picking up what's left of the bodies day. The very next day, apprehending the guy that caused all this problem and putting him on trial.

3 moTrump needs to be removed by Congress TODAY. He's insane.
15 Reply- 3 mo
You're sadly correct, but it would be nice to impeach him again in the House, at least. A simple majority vote in the House is all that's required, and that could happen in the mid-terms if they're not rigged. It's the 2/3's majority in the Senate that's the problem, unfortunately. The Dems would need to pick up 10 seats and get both independents (if re-elected) plus 8 Repubs to do the right thing. Hopefully, he'll just drop dead from natural causes soon.
- 3 mo
I don't think that there was any way out of it using Congress since the Republicans in one way or another. Have that locked up. The same applies to the midterm elections. If we even have elections I think they will have been rigged by the Republicans and Trump. If they are not rigged then I don't think they will be able to be held at all. One way or the other, these people are going to figure out a way to remain power.

I agree. I get a lot of flack from people when I say they can be rigged because the R's said that for 2020 and it was baseless. But, they were pushing the ballot box stuffing lie, and when that fell apart, they switched to accusing Dominion's machines. That cost Fox $750 million.
Now however, Dominion was bought by a Trump supporting Repub and rebranded "Liberty Vote". They will be used in 27 states, but 5 states have NO paper back-up, NJ, SC, LA and GA. Georgia switched to Direct Recording Electronic (DRE's) so there's no way to verify votes in cases of suspected tampering.
People do NOT realize that anything with a processor and a program can be tampered with well beforehand. In a Presidential election, you're talking about 50 electoral votes. In the mid-terms, you're talking about 40 seats in the House!! FORTY seats!! All you have to do is mess with NJ or GA, or even just the three others.
Even before that happens, the voting law restrictions put in place are designed to favor the R's and create hardships for married women, R's included. But they don't care about losing some Repub women votes. Guess we just have to wait and see. - 3 mo
