Am I the only one who thinks colonizing and mining the moon is crossing the line?

Question

Orange Man is already talking about building a base on the moon and mining its Hydrogen 3. I'm okay with establishing a base for research purposes like on Antartica, but actually establishing a colony, settling people up there and taking resources that we don't have on earth is playing god and morally wrong! This will be the end of world and society. But MY main concern is, the effect that extracting the Hydrogen 3 will have on the moon's chemistry and ecology. The moon effects things on earth like tides, so surely messing up the moon will mess up our own planet. Also, what's gonna happened if other countries decide to either put a stop to it or take a piece of the pie. We will have nuclear war on the moon.

Why should we stop at the moon as though it’s not the exact same thing?

Here’s a truth that’s been around as long as we have: nothing stands in the way of evolution.

Engines, radio, internet, every world changing innovation came about with people saying we shouldn’t do it, or that’s “crossing a line”
Every single time we did it anyway

And pretty soon we’re gonna mine the moon and the stars, and no one’s stopping us

Ecology? The moon is just part of what we have as resources. It will be used as it is necessary and provides benefits for humans. We will see it as part of our home in a sense and in 100 years we will see the solar system as part our home and in 1,000 years we will see the galaxy as home.

Think of it as islands. We finally discovered all of our island and now paddled to the nearby island for expansion. Then we will make our way to our chain of islands creating a community. Then we will explore all the islands that we can get to creating a new civilization (s).

You obviously never watched Space Cowboys. Clint Eastwood discovered that the Russians snuck up in outer space and put nukes in OUR satellites.
OK, so my real answer is, let the private sector go up there and get whatever they want. I'm sure Elon can handle it. Let's save our tax dollars for fixing up this planet.

the moons "ecology"? there's no ecology on the moon dude. since there are no "organsisms" that could form an ecosystem there.

i think colonizing the moon is actually significantly less bad than colonizing a country on earth and that happened quite a lot in history.
