This dictator has been in power since 2010. long ass time. Looks like democracy CAN defeat fascists after all. here's hoping Trump and the maga's go down too!
BREAKING: Trump and Vance are HUMILIATED as their favorite fascist crony Viktor Orbán just got absolutely CREAMED in Hungary’s election despite their futile endorsements!
In a huge setback for the very idea of Trumpism, authoritarian Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor, one of Donald Trump and JD Vance’s closest international allies and a darling of the global far-right, has conceded defeat after getting crushed at the polls.
Despite the mechanisms of power at his disposal, Orbán has lost his long grip on power in what is being called one of Europe’s most consequential elections in years.
By dismantling democratic checks and balances, weakening the rule of law, Orbán created a self-described “illiberal state” that rewrote the constitution, took over the media, packed the judiciary with loyalists, and curbed the rights of the opposition.
Still, he lost in a landslide.
This is a massive embarrassment for Trump and Vance, who have repeatedly praised Orbán as a model leader. Trump described him as a "true friend, fighter, and winner" for his nationalist policies, particularly his stance on immigration.
Trump even traveled to Budapest in a highly unusual two-day campaign trip to bolster Orbán’s flagging re-election bid, breaking with long-standing U. S. diplomatic norms against campaigning in foreign elections.
The far-right’s “great hope” in Europe is collapsing, which is a clear sign that Trump-style authoritarian populism is losing ground with actual voters the world over.
If even Viktor Orbán can fall like a rock before his voters, Americans should feel hopeful that the upcoming midterms will send Trumpism straight where it belongs -- the ash heap of history.
