This is always the telling thing from these men in power when a rape allegation slaps them. They go running and hiding, resign, go quiet until their attorneys piece together a battle plan - whatever, yet adamantly try to say the allegations are "false." At the end of the day it proves that you're guilty.

The play was to oust slightly unpopular people who DARED step out of their place i. e. running for the governors seat, thus giving republicans the edge because the votes would be split. Rape allegations typically work as female voters don't usually give a sht about proof, a pointed finger is enough, hell, losing a lawsuit isn't even enough sometimes "wHy wOulD a WoMan LiE aBoUt ThIs?" They fked up when there were no calls for him to resign from congress as well. This typically works mind you. He raped this woman, he shouldn't be able to run for office... but no arrests, and the accusers disappear off the face of the earth when dude does resign. Republicans POUNCED, as they say, "uhhh, shouldn't he resign from congress as well?" Left media didn't have a counter besides whataboutism i. e. "yea but Trump!"

In ALL cases like this *show us the evidence* but on the dem side, this is a vulnerability, because there usually isn't any evidence. A pointed finger is enough. there's also the fact that, this guy raped you... but you didn't go to the police... you went to the media 6 years later (20 years in Trump and Kavanaugh's case, ). A sentient person might find that odd and moderates are tired of it. And "you hate women" isn't working anymore.

No it doesn't prove they are guilty of sexual assault. It may have been consensual in Swalwell's case. So maybe the assault charge isn't true. But he was bumping uglies with a staffer, a subordinate. Often these historical rape allegations are made politically. Look at the Trump and kavvangh allegations, the women couldn't even remember what year it was meant to happen in case they had a concrete alibi.

My husband got accused of raping a girl at college. He was treated as though he was guilty even though he had a proven alibi which was me. Came out of left field two years later. He was at a wedding on the date he was accused with me in another state, wedding video and social media posts proved it easy. His accuser was never held accountable for her lies.

I agree that many times these allegations are packed away to be later used to bring some guy down if he's getting really close to office, but others are still true. It still remains to be that people with power abuse it enormously, and are largely sexually irresponsible because they figure they are too important.

Wasn't our wedding video. But its like my husband said to the college board at the time that his dick wasn't long enough to rape her from another state. Was very tough time because despite police clearing him and his lawyer involved they were actively trying to expel him and tried to suspend him.

When Jay-Z had those assault allegations come against him last year he didn't hide, he publicly said they were false. But in Swalwell’s case it’s the Democrat party that did that to him. They didn’t want him running but he was going against the party and going to run anyway so they brought these ladies out of the woodworks to take home out of the race.

Let’s just assume they aren’t guilty. If somebody if falsely accused of sexual crimes that can be very stressful. Maybe they just resigned because other people kept harassing them, viewed them poorly or asking them tough questions at work.

If I was a politician in a situation where a woman accuses me of rape, and I really didn't do it and I know she's lying, I would ask for proof. Tell me what my whereabouts were when it happened, let's get camera footage of me heading to or leaving the area where I supposedly assaulted you, let's get law enforcement to track my exact location through my phone when it happened. Was a rape test ever done showing my DNA was in you or on you? Give me everything you can to prove I assaulted you.

But instead these guys immediately resign and then adamantly try to say "it never happened." Regardless of what people are saying or asking you at work, stand your ground and fight for your innocence if you truly didn't do anything. That can't possibly be more stressful than the life of politics already.

Think about it: these guys come from the realm of frat boy culture. Often growing up with silver spoons in their mouths, went to the best universities, hung around iconic people of "influence," very likely lived lifestyles of partying, and had girls all over them.

So because of this, these men often do not truly have respect for women around them. They figure the next woman in his orbit will sleep with them just like the others, and then when she's not interested, they choose aggression. We've seen it a billion times. Then they pay the women to shut up and drop the case.

Like everything, there's always the possibility that he really is innocent, but I think your chances of winning the lottery have better odds.
