Aside from the cow shit festival. But overall, most of the negative things you hear about Indians are NORTH Indians. One of my cousins visited both and said it's two completely different worlds. South Indian states are relatively cleaner and more orderly, and are also the safest and have the highest literacy rates and highest standards of living. I know Kerala for instance is Catholic, but Tamil Nadu is Hindu, and it's the same.
Everywhere else in the world, it's the opposite. The further from the equator (where White people live), are usually the civilized areas. And the further you get towards the equator and the people get darker, it becomes shittier. Like in Italy, the shittiest areas are in the south and the nicest in north. But in India for some reason it's the opposite.
You've got light skinned Punjabis and Kashmiri seperatists commiting terror attacks and forming gangs abroad. There are villages that still practice the cast system and believe outsiders are dirty, even though their streets are trashed, and they will throw rocks at you if you touch something. Sexism and sex crimes and backwards practices are more common. The tech scammers are also mostly from the North. In the South where the darker people live, there is only one temple that's racist, but for the most part, they're more tollarant compared to their light skinned counterparts in the north. I've never heard of Tamil gangs, while there are Punjabi ones. And women's treatment and safety is also much higher in the darker south. I know an influencer who travels solo there and stays for months without issues. And in general foreigners feel more comfortable in the dark-skinned south, then in the light-skinned north.
