Remember, gas prices are controlled by OPEC and US and British/Dutch companies. Trump and his Energy Secretaries likely have some inside info, but they have no absolute control over prices. And likely Trump and his secretary disagree about the outcome and the timeline for prices to rise or fall.

I think, seriously, they don't know and oil companies are taking advantage of the situation right now.

  Trump's people know full well that oil companies are taking advantage of the situation. They have been selling gas for 30 days based on tomorrow's demand. He just didn't want the Secretary to talk about that, or give the impression that prices will go up and not come back down for a very long time, if ever.

He accidentally told the truth instead of what lies Trump wants America to be told. Usually in the circus that is Trump's administration, that's a fireable offense. To the anons below. Trump was also the reason Biden had high gas prices, because of his embarrassing deal with OPEC. A President hardly EVER has anything to do with gas prices, unless he inserts himself and fucks things up completely. Trump has done that twice when it comes to gas and energy, and continues to do so.

Trump always tries to put a positive spin on things, when those things are affected by (or perceived to be affected by) his policies.
Realistically, I'm with the Energy Secretary. Gas prices will go down somewhat, but it will be awhile before they get back under $3/gallon, if they even get that low.
We have to remember that gas prices usually rise about now anyway in preparation for summer, as demand increases, and refineries change their production to a summer blend.
