Why is alcohol more acceptable than cigarettes/vape?

One major argument would be tradition. Alcohol is thousands years old, removing that strong legacy can't be easy.

Then if we, as a whole, wanted to live a life where what's nice in moderation and harmful in exaggeration was banned, then... given all there is to ban, I guess we would have sex much much much more to compensate for this worldwide pleasure loss caused by...

I mean many people do live their whole lives without alcohol and cannabis, everyone in my family does. And my uncles and aunts and all don't have more than 2 kids, few have 3 kids.

It doesn’t make much sense. But alcohol hasn’t really been villainized to quite an extent cigarettes have been. There hasn’t been a huge campaign to warn of the dangers of alcohol as much. That said i have read gen z aren’t drinking or smoking as much as older gens so maybe alcohol is being seen more negatively now.

The damages to your body from smoking are much worse. Alcohol isn't good for you but it's easier for your body to recover from than cigarettes. Some alcohol won't have a lasting effect but each cigarette could.

Drunk driving a big no no but it's up to the person to be responsible. It's more in the moment of a disaster crash.

Smoking is more removed from the moment. How much personal responsible does a smoker have against the total air around them? They get punished to go outside so the outdoors is the problem not them individually.

Both are harmful for the user, but only smoke is also harmful for everybody around, in the same room or office. There is no such thing as second-hand alcohol poisoning! :-)

When I drink, I'm the only one affected. When I smoke, everyone inhales rhe smoke too, the smell gets everywhere etc

Cigarettes are gross to anyone in the general vicinity. Alcohol does not make people smell like a burning ashtray. It just makes people fall down drunk.

cigarettes just smell weird and most places have banned smoking so isn't even anywhere to go where you can smoke anymore , so during winter they have to stand outside here and smoke in the cold
