Went through this in my city too, cause I was part of a group campaigning for community safety. We forced Council into having a public meeting and they had a moderator to keep it under control and liberal oriented.

I asked the moderator to ask the men and women gathered to stick up their hand if they had been threatened. Half did. Even the Liberal moderator couldn't pretend this was OK.

The state gov't was facing election and offered to fund street CCTV. Did those Liberals on Council bitch and moan. It disadvantages the homeless and victimizes them , they said (well yes there was a higher chance of them being jailed for crimes they did). The poor babies only formed into groups for protection. (Well yes they did form into groups for a protection racket to tax people walking along the street).

Yes Liberals are awesome. I particularly like the awesome gnashing of their teeth when they don't get their liberal way.

Oh yes. The lefties forced a CCTV trial for a year with obvious intent of discontinuing it. Fortunately they were voted off Council. So it is still running. Yay!

Well, see, the problem is that people complain a lot when her DAs don't prosecute criminals, or when her judges give them ultra-light sentences, when people have video evidence of the crimes. And that makes her uncomfortable. It makes her even more uncomfortable if certain groups of people are provably much more likely to be involved in crime, especially if she is pushing the belief that those same groups are valuable and needed and arguably more important than other groups.

And since her own comfort is just way more important than, say, the innocent grandma who gets killed or just beaten up by these criminals, well, we've got to do what makes her comfortable. Nothing is more important than maintaining "face" in a socialist regime.

I've always wondered why modern Liberals are so supportive of crime. But pretty much every Liberal ran area has taken steps to make sure they have more crime than everyone else. Some are better than others at achieving their goal.

I think it's because the political class of Democrats simply don't care about the voter class. They're just fine in their gated or upscale neighborhoods. They're not taking the bus or walking around these repeat felons themselves, so they just don't care.

Another example of that behavior with a twist would be how they'd behaved during COVID... rules for thee, but not for me. They made excessive rules and restrictions for the plebs, but they didn't follow those rules themselves. They really don't give a shit about anyone but themselves and it shows in the results that form under their leadership.

The elderly man in that video is still in the hospital. It's hard to fathom anyone dumb enough to think the victims are the perpetrators who caused the beating. But that's the left for you.

like the concept of being fair isn't bad right? you want to be treated well so you treat others well. you want to have the same chances everyone else has to find joy in life. but where it becomes pathological is when you try to make it "fair" for people who are litterally harming society. like for example decriminalizing theft or certain other things just to avoid that "groups who emerge as being perpetrators more often than others" aren't "discriminated" against by the legal system. like as if it's the legal systems fault that certain groups of people commit crimes more often. i think it's actually racist if let's say some ethnic groups are gonne be cut more slack from crime by legislation being eased on them.

That makes perfect sense. I can't remember the city, but I think it was Los Angeles. A homeless person was throwing his own poop on people passing by. So imagine you're heading to work or maybe to a job interview. You now have crap on your shirt. The powers that be viewed the homeless person at the victim, and not you. That's the problem. Allowing a deranged person to assault innocent people is not compassion. Compassion would be to take him off the streets, institutionalize him, and see if it's possible to help him. But I don't see that happening.

behavior you don't discourage severely enough or not at all will keep returning. it is what it is. amd of it is someone being mentally ill or unwell, then yes they should be institutionalized even against their will, if they are a drag on the wellbeing of others otherwise.
