What Is Your Opinion On Graffiti?

When I see any kind of graffiti on walls I think it drags a place down to gutter level, a deprived place, an area to avoid especially at night.

Also when I visit foreign countries with graffiti on train stations and city centres, it gives me a bad impression of the country, and the people that live there.

Obviously it takes a great deal of effort to remove graffiti, and the people that cause damage to buildings etc. should be given substantial prison sentences to discourage them, and others from future offending.

If we need more prisons, let's build them to have better places to live in.

What is your opinion.

A. Graffiti on public walls and trains etc. is more than vandalism and deserves a substantial prison sentence to discourage future offending.

B. There is a place for graffiti in Art Galleries, but not on public walls etc.

C. Graffiti brightens up dull public walls and trains etc.

D. Something else.

When I see graffiti I see a place where there is no law and order, a place not worth investing in to upgrade and improve people's lives.

It's stupid, illegible, pointless, ugly as fuck, worthless and a complete waste of money, time and paint, not to mention any real talent they might actually have!
If you WANNA paint that shit, buy a canvas and use that! At least that way, no one else can come along and paint more shit over top of it! SOMEBODY will probably like it and WANT to buy it!! If you spray it on a wall, no one can access it other than to walk or drive by! Why not SELL IT to someone who WANTS to see it rather than get no money at all for forcing the world to put up with it? People a few years ago bought "paintings" made by the president's crackhead son who just blew spatters of paint onto a sheet of paper through his nose!! If they'll pay big bucks for that shit, they'll love your shit!!

I think someone should follow these assholes home and, after they get in, get some cans of spray paint and do the same as they did to their house and see how much they like it! They MIGHT learn a lesson!!

Graffiti is cool. Tagging is not.

Near where I live is this cool "Lego wall" that a local Graffiti artist adds on to

Since this picture there's been a few added including superman, baby yoda, and bluey. I believe the artists goal is to fill the whole thing over the next year or two

Agree. It just shows that the local scum have taken control. The fact is in decent areas it gets removed pretty quickly so if you've a large amount it just shows the local authority has given up.

It kind of depends on the kind of graffiti... there are some kinds of graffiti that can be quite artistic although you're not probably referring to that kind.

I'm referring to all graffiti, and applies to a totally run down area, there is no reason to make the place any worse than it is.

In some countries you would never see graffiti, people respect their country, while countries that allow it, they have other social problems too.

99% of graffiti i've seen is disfigurement of private or public property. there's obviously great graffiti artists that create works of art but most of it is just a bad looking, barely readable tag of mostly nonsensical or obscene text on some property surface.

and what i noticed is that it's mostly hard left leaning people who do this.

so i personally see graffiti mostly as a crime than an art.
