Why do people fight over things invented by humans?

When you really look at it, many of the things people fight for are human-made.

Flags, states, countries, ideologies, religions, currencies, registration systems... Even though the world system is very absurd and broken, people still give their lives for these man-made values. A war that has lasted for centuries continues. A much better and more reasonable world system could have been created.
