What is the reasoning behind "men invented everything"?

Do men really think that this argument makes us feel inferior?

The idea is that tons of women today are completely dismissive of what men do and show them no respect. Men are trying to remind women that men have done a whole lot for them, and continue to do so every day. And while there are plenty of women who respect and appreciate this, the RadFem, Gender Studies-brainwashed women think they're independent and "don't need no man" and "men are trash" - and that prompts this kind of response.

Of course, if you are truly independent, then you won't care what men think or do, because you don't want or need anything from men. But, if in fact, you DO want something from men, then you need to show men some respect. Otherwise, men will simply ignore you and let you be "independent" all by yourself.

It's used to argue against the feminist threat narrative by saying that you claim to be oppressed by the people who make society as comfortable for you as it is now. Especially since some of the first inventions during the industrial revolution were household appliances.

That's not an argument. That's just ignorance.

There are women inventors, and have been through history. They just don't get the credit. Heddie Lemar is my favourite, and a damn fine looking thing she was too.

It's Hedy Lamar, and she did incredible work and DID get credit for it (eventually, when it was declassified). And post-WWII, there have been lots of inventions and discoveries by women - it was a female scientist working at Dow Chemical who stumbled onto Kevlar fibers, for example. But the fact is that women have accounted for less than 1% of all inventions throughout history. Certainly some of this was due to a lack of education and career opportunities for women, no doubt about it, but a bigger reason is that women have always been more interested in PEOPLE (one of the reasons they do so well in social situations, and in politics) while men have always been more interested in THINGS. And, yes, there are always a few exceptions, but as a rule, women have been far less interested in "things" and have overwhelmingly chosen "people" - in the modern world, this means therapists, nurses, writers, and social workers, rather than mechanics, engineering, construction, or materials science.

It's not necessarily about capability, but INTEREST. Most women just have little interest in those things, and would rather do something more people-related.

Men invented the skirt and the heel, and were originally meant for men. If that doesn't say something about how men invested MOST things, then I don't know. I realize women have invented stuff too but, for the most part, it's men
