How ridiculous it is that in the US you can't legally drink until 21 but you can join the army at 18?

Yup that makes no sense and so does 21 in the first place, I can't imagine how dumb it is you can go into clubs at +18 but you can't drink. Though I think making 21 does make it more fun? Since you have longer thrill of years trying to get away with it.

Yes. But I joined the British army at 16.

You still can but it was ridiculous that at the time I could get married, have kids, leave school, get a job, smoke and 16 year old girls could appear topless on the paper but I couldn't drive until I was 17 and couldn't drink legally until I was 18.

Not that the drink age ever stopped is though wed get id and refused from a lot of clubs though girls as young as 14 were let in no problem.

It's not ridiculous. The army needs naives, and they know 18 is the perfect age for making silly decisions. Why would they wait for you to go to university and realize that being educated is way more appealing than being their useful idiot?

huh? in army is supervised and given instructions. but out of army not supervised so can't trust beer.

In Germany you can legally drink with 16 and join the army with 16! How about that? 😀

You can join the military at 17. You can't buy a handgun from an ffl dealer until 21 either.
