It's probably a combination of both. He lies; everyone knows this. Anyone who denies this, is willfully ignorant, because it's a well-documented fact at this point. You don't need to have a problem with it, but he does lie. As for forgetting that he said "no new wars" he might honestly forget he said it. The problem is that he's so proud that even if you give him proof of him saying that he'll deny that it's true, because he believes he didn't say it and to tell him he did is a challenge to his presumed superior intellect. After all, he was the only president to pass a test to prove he didn't have dementia (as long as, like him, we ignore that no other president was asked to take such a test).

you are trying to split hairs but even so: the 'campaign promises ' he never said those words: 'i promise' because policy depended on situations. so he didn't 'promise anything'. also only liberals invented cancel culture. christians won't 'cancel' trump even if he really lied. even if he really sinned.
