@DryGermanGuy Not necessarily. The government was teetering on the edge. It's economy was collapsing. I have a friend in country who was reporting to me when he could and it was becoming near impossible to survive. I agree an invasion would likely be needed for regime change. However, Trump made a mistake accepting the ceasefire for negotiations and then wanting to resolve quickly. If he kept his foot down it's likely they would have given concessions for survival. Instead he played his stupid social media games and it became clear he was making baseless threats so the regime stayed strong in negotiations and will likely do so now. Trumps only choice is a return to combat, or accepting a generational strategic failure that will be remembered 150 years from now the same way we see Buchanan or Chamberlain.

It's a complex issue. Superpowers often have defense agreements. That's why we have most of our bases. The war was necessary. That being said, it was militarily successful, but Trump lost the negotiations badly. If the MOU becomes official (I doubt it will) it will have very negative implications for the world

Trump was decisively winning the war. He then negotiated in a way that became an Iranian wet dream. You complain about the JCPOA giving 1.7 billion? Rubio stated (rightfully) Iran would use that money for terrorism. If the MOU is officially signed, Iran could see well over 150 times what then JCPOA paid them. How many missiles does that make? How much terrorism can that fund?
