Who are the best and worst presidents in US history, and why?

The best are generally considered as "Mount Rushmore plus FDR". I don't disagree. I'd through in Eisenhower with them also.

The worst HAVE been considered those Presidents around Lincoln because their lack of leadership and incompetence helped create the Civil War and extend hostilities in the wake of it. Lincoln was the 16th President. The 14th was Franklin Pierce, the 15th was James Buchanan, and the 17th was Andrew Johnson - the first President to face impeachment. Since Trump first became President, historians rank him among the bottom 5. However, with this term, I wouldn't be surprised if he is now ranked as the worst President.

Since 1982, Siena College Research Institute does a poll of Presidential historians and scholars after the first year of a new administration. The poll asks each pollee to give each person who has been President a score of 1 to 5 on 20 different subject areas. (So, even though we've had 47 Presidents, 45 men will be ranked because Grover Cleveland and Donald Trump were elected to two non-consecutive terms.) The last SCRI poll was released in June 2022 after the Biden Administration was in for a year. So, with that timeframe, we should expect the 2026 poll to be coming out sooner or later. I think it hasn't come out yet simply because the shock of Trump's second term will upend the results of the poll. I fully expect Trump to now be ranked the worst President in US history. It will make the news.

my mind is already enslaved by woke so first i will spit out my response that i thought.

lincoln best because he helped blacks and was the real democrat before democrat switched places with republican. yuck lying is not fun. worst is trump because he opposed diversity which would help blacks. i actually thought that crap. but my opinion is:

worst truman -d for using atom bomb against japan, before japan had an atom bomb. mass murdered two cities. best trump for being first ever to include lgb' in cabinet. and for abraham accords. and for amazing trade deals and...

Worst: Trump. Not the slightest doubt about it. No other president tried to steal the presidency.

Best? They all had flaws despite massive improvements. Slave owners, racists... But it was all moving towards perfecting "We the people" until recently.

Best, Andrew Jackson, because he got the country out from under the control of a central bank in the 1800's. He also beat up a man with his cane after the guy tried to assassinate him.

Worst, Woodrow Wilson, because he signed the current central bank into existence in 1913.

The best president will probably end up being Donald Trump, He has put America back on the track our founders intended and prevented the country from Communism.

JoeBiden will be remembered as the worst president. He led the country to the brink of ruin.

I think the best was Lincoln. Worst so far is definitely Trump, and I believe he will go down in history as the worst.
