When world news conflicts, do you trust the USA or Iran more?

Iranian state media claims they have closed down the Strait of Hormuz due to recent regional conflicts, while U. S. Central Command officially states the waterway remains open and safe for commercial shipping. Which side do you believe?

I would never listen to the propaganda machine of a totalitarian regime that perpetuates nothing but terror.


But the US hasn’t been honest either.


Just like every war, truth is always the first casualty.


The problem is, it would be tough to fly down there and check to see for myself.


So I just gather all the news I can find from as many different sources and try to piece together which one sounds legit and which one sounds like a fabrication.


Yes there’s a margin for error, but I believe I was taught critical thinking and analysis for this very reason. It’s time to apply it to a real life scenario.

I wouldn't believe the U. S. government or media if they said water was wet. Their job is to guide public opinion, not share facts.
Iran might be a bit more ethical and capable of honesty, but I don't trust its claims either.

I rely upon unbiased, independent analysts for facts and analysis.

Both are liars but in this specific case it doesn't matter what the US says.

Iran controls the straight and if they say they close it, most ships won't go through anymore because for them it's a huge risk. The US saying it's open is meaningless because they have no control and they said in the past it's open when ships trying to get through got attacked.

Probably time to get the Navy involved. Iran has done it before. During the Iran Iraq War of the 1980s Iran began destroying oil tankers and it forced the US in action. Operation Praying Mantis destroyed much of their Navy. The issue is Trump. He is likely concerned about midterms.

I wanted to add that I'm convinced most of this nonsense is about midterms. Trump is likely afraid of impeachment if they go badly. Wouldn't be the first time. It's very likely the war will resume. It may be sooner due to the Lebanon issue, or he might wait until after midterms.

No one is in control of the iranian military. Its kind of like Hezbollah or HAMAS. They sign a peace deal and some fanatic individual division launches rockets because they dont like it and of course the leadership can't admit they aren't in control.

so now we know iran lied. Dozens of commercial ships successfully departed the Arabian Gulf through the Strait of Hormuz between June 21 and 22, 2026, despite Iran's abrupt announcement that it was closing the waterway. closing violated the agreement too.
