There has been a shooting in Northern Germany I've been told. Also that it is a shelter for pregnant girls and I believe 5 have been killed.

I don’t think the restrictions from the Weimar republic were ever repealed.
The lack of gun crime is arguably more a testament to their social policies and practices.
The UK’s Dunblane example is often overlooked by anti-gun nuts. After their initial ban all violent crimes, including gun crimes, increased year in and year out. Nine years in, they started new social programs and policies to mitigate violent crimes. By year fourteen, they had just gotten gun crime under control, but overall crime stats rested right around the same place they were just before the ban.
Now law abiding citizens are being arrested for mean tweets because they are rightfully outraged about the rampant violence to which they are subjected but can’t protect themselves and the government refuses to protect them.
This is the model for gun confiscation that looney liberals in the US want to implement. Punish law abiding gun owners while ignoring the criminals. Force good citizens to be wholly dependent upon the government for protections that literally never come.
When you are a hunter or sport shooter after certain time, psychological and practical test you get firearm ownership license. However it's not a carry license, you have to transport firearm unloaded and ammunition need to be transported separately. This is in most EU country similar.
In Germany you can carry a *gas or blank pistol. However I think this law has changed recently. You can't even own a full spec air rifle in Germany without a license, just something like 5 Joule max power while subsonic ,22 Air rifle pellet has energy around 30-40 Joule
* gas - a blank cartridge filled with CS gas in plastic ampule. I think it works for max 10m, not more.
It’s not the lack of gun laws. It’s the abundance of mentally ill people.
Wait, so it’s not the rogue guns doing the actual shootings?
That only happens here @arizonasunshine
@Cidknee
Ted Nugent sat his AR 15 on his kitchen table for three months to see if it would shoot people on its own.
Guess what?
It didn't move.
Nope. It just didn't have the proper motivation to kill. Lazy gun!
no actually you have to jump through many more hoops to own a gun and the ammunition for it at the same time. it is possible. but it's quite hard and will take quite a lot of time and is heavily regulated. for example: if you wanna own a gun, you gotta be ok with law enforcement randomly knocking on your door demanding to be let in to see your gun safe and if any tiny thing isn't in order, your right to own the guns is taken away. like it's infinitely easier to own a gun in the usa.
that's why you rarely hear of a shooting in germany and if you do, it makes global news. in the usa, shootings are a mundane daily thing that barely make it to the local news anymore cause they're so common.
Guns are readily available in Europe despite strict gun laws. Usually AKs and in sweden they have a grenade problem. Remember there's a massive war in Ukraine and a lot of cold war era hardware in Eastern Europe.
Though this id bet was probably shotgun or hunting rifle.
"readily available" is not quite right. for police and military they are. for average citizens they are hard to get legally. not impossible. but hard.
can't talk about criminal illegal gun ownership cause i'm not a criminal.
@genericname85 litteraly walk into a market in Belgium and buy an AK or bring ine across from Ukraine. Ukraine has basically every cold war weapon available to take home.
The thing about Ukraine may be true but Ukraine isn't part of Germany. Not even part of the EU. You asked about Germany. Belgium is part of the EU and you can absolutely not buy an AK in a market there. You can buy historical weapons for display. But you can't easily buy weapons that can actually work as a firearm.
@genericname85 dude they aren't buying them legally but there's so much milotary weaponry in Europe floating about you can quite cheaply. Like sweden has a hand grenade problem and they aren't legal there
you asked if germany has "loose gun laws". therefore every way of getting a gun "illegally" is kind of besides the point here. i'm sure there's plenty of illegal ways but that's by definition not lawfull then.
@genericname85 merely stated that guns are easy to get in Germany regardless of gun laws.
getting guns illegally is easy everywhere. it's not particularly easy in germany as it is so heavily regulated. and as you already stated you gotta import it from ukraine indicating you're aware it's not that easy to get one in germany. so you kind of defeated your own point there.
@genericname85 very easy in Germany. Very easy to get hand grenades
at this point i know for sure you're trolling. i'm out. have fun.
It's quite strict from what I know. It's difficult to obtain guns but obviously not impossible.
For comparison:
USA estimated 120000 guns and 4.4 firearm related homicides per 100000 people
Germany estimated 19600 guns and <0.1 firearm related homicides per 100000 people.
But Americans are left alone so they are more free. This allows idiots to act uncivilized. Like the jerk who killed Charlie Kirk.
I think it's really difficult to own a gun in Germany
Nope
How did a shooting occur if not? 5 dead.
Because they still have guns. But they dont have loose gun laws. Shit like 20 years ago, Japan had a gang war in Tokyo with guns and hand grenades.
I don’t know anything about this
Haven't heard about it
