Since gas prices have gone up a bit, should Trump sell off our strategic oil supply the way the last dummy did?

Scalping is already illegal in most states, and what the oil companies are doing is scalping. They've done this before, and Congress intervened and forced them to lower prices in the past. The President is the Chief Law Enforcement Officer of the Nation, so he has the power to enforce Scalping laws.
Scalping in most states is defined by raising the price of a goods or service by more than 10% in response to a disaster. I know Louisiana already has laws on the books making such actions illegal, and I know many other southern states already have such laws. The corrupt Governor's office and corrupt law enforcement almost never enforce the law, but it does exist on the books.
Who decides what the price of oil should be? Is it the government? Are you saying that the government knows what the correct price should be?
Oil CEOs are muti-millionaires and billionaires at everyone else's expense. Of course the Government should set the price for basic infrastructure. Of course the government should regulate interstate commerce as the CONSTITUTION says.
Congress has the power to regulate interstate commerce. That's in the Constitution. They rarely use that power but they have the power to set the price on EVERYTHING which crosses State or Federal borders or waterways.
@SeekerOfTruth007 You are absolutely right
So, you just said that the government has the right to set prices. You sound just like a democratic socialist! 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
I'm actually a registered Republican, but consider myself independent. The only reason I registered Republican is because Louisiana passed a law requiring you to register one way or another.
The Founding Fathers were actually Colonists, and all of the colonies were originally very much Socialist constructions. You had to work together for the common good to survive in colonial days.
Anyway, I'm independent. If I don't like the leading candidates, I vote for someone else or abstain from voting at all. I'm not voting in support of someone I disagree with.
The voting public wants the President to control everything! THEY EXPECT A PRESIDENT to be able to do just that! They want him to control food price, housing price, fuel price etc etc. He is only trying to live up to what the people voted him in to do.
Obama said "Hope and Change" Well, what do you expect?
Is this more in line with capitalism or communism? The GOP historically promoted limited government, lower taxes, etc.
He told gas retailers to lower the gas prices. According to your link, he also said that the elevated gas prices amounted to price gouging, which he said is "totally illegal," and warned retailers of "big problems."
39 states have anti-price gouging statutes.
Yes he told them to drop the prices. But it isn’t communist.
What should the correct price be? Does the government decide that?
I don’t have a specific number.
But gas is a critical basic infrastructure and the government should set a price for it. The government regulates these industries through the Interstate Commerce Claus.
@SeekerOfTruth007 has given you a excellent answer.
Yeah! He supports democratic socialism! I thought you guys didn't like that! 🤣😂🤣😂
I don’t like dems but even a dem can be right on occasion.
tRump is a moron and criminal who has no idea how energy markets work nor does he care. He just wants good news now for the midterm elections.
I don’t want to hear it. You said nothing when your Harris campaigned that she would implement price control on retailers to stop inflation. The only thing that stops inflation is less government spending but we know democrats love spending money
So, you're saying that it's okay for Trump to do what Harris was campaigning on? You're not making any sense!
Nope. I’m saying you thought Harris idea was great so shut up
I think he is on the citizen's side and not the big oil companies.
I'm referring to the action of telling companies what they should do with their prices.
LOL, old Dementia Don is really losing his rag.
He's even got public stakes in Intel and other companies to "save" them.
No, he just wants to make sure the oil companies are not price fixing and the American public does not get screwed.
So if he does something he's bad, if he doesn't do something, he's bad. Got it.
Wait! I thought that MAGA and the GOP were all about free market forces and the government staying out of people's lives and not dictating to companies how to run their business. Or did I misunderstand?
You taking the GOP position as if it meant no government exists. It's a strawman argument.
they can't drop prices because they have to pay the world price for oil.
So you want to pay more for gas because you hate Trump. Brilliant.
You're not paying attention. Does a capitalist support free market forces or support price control dictated by the government as indicated by state run entities (like China or Russia)?
Is the oil market a free market?
Oil companies are free market entities. They set their own prices. So, is it ok for a POTUS to just demand that any company lower their prices "immediately"?
So they can refuse to charge state gasoline taxes? Is a demand a law? Is this how you idots' brains work? No wonder you lefties are so angry all the time. You have to pretend not to know how things work just to have a little outrage theater. I'm not surprised you're all mentally ill.
Wow! I see you had to take the short bus home from school everyday! I'm not talking about taxes. Clearly, taxes are established by government action. I'm talking about the base price of oil. Who sets the price of oil? Are you capable of answering that simple question? The ignorance of you MAGATS is mind blowing!
Is a "demand" a law that a corporation has to follow under threat of penalties? yes or no answer will do.
