The regime will need to be removed. Eventually Trump will realize negotiation goes nowhere. They are a terrorist regime the creates instability in the region, funds terrorism, kills jts own people, and routinely lists the death of US and Israel as an objective. They have routinely attacked shipping lanes, and attempted assassinations and kidnappings of others. They have killed over 1,000 Americans over the decades and many 100s of thousands of others. Negotiating is folly. End them. The people of Iran want it.

I think that finishing the job is going to happen soon. After Iran's latest attacks on 3 ships he will have the support of the world when they get bombed into oblivion.

@DryGermanGuy These people have largely clung to power through the brutality of their people. No one is saying it would be easy. It needs to be done. The Iranian people support. Trumps handling of the war has been questionable. Accepting the ceasefire and negotiating was his biggest mistake. Though many argue the MOU wasn't even legitimate or seriously taken by either side.

@DryGermanGuy who knows. I'd say the earlier campaign was very effective. It seemed about as decisive as the Gulf War of 1991. The only difference was Trump insistence on a deal. We shall see where it goes. If Trump still obsessed over diplomacy, then it's a problem. If he allows the military loose, it shouldn't be.

Exactly, it's wishful thinking. And I watched the Gulf War live on CNN, it worked because it was a huge, well-prepared international ground invasion. And Iran is four times the size of Iraq, better equipped plus more fanatical. They don't take empty orange clown threats seriously and why should they?

@DryGermanGuy You seem to be ignoring a few realities. Iraq successfully shot down 75 allied aircraft and captured crews. Allied deaths were over 200. Saddam lacked the same internal struggles. Iran (and its proxies) successfully shot down arguably 2 craft, and committed around $800 million in damages in US bases. The US lost 13 (6 to an accident), and Israel has lost 30 fighting Hezbollah. Iran, like Iraq resorted to attacking random countries and oil. If anything, I'd argue Iran has had a more pathetic response and showing.

@DryGermanGuy considering around 80 to 90% of Iranian hate the regime, and Reza Pahlavi has offered to be interim leader, I'd say it's doable. Especially if it's pushed internally. This was not an option on Iraq. Iran had such a struggle they were forced to use Iraqi, Afghanistan, and believe Syrian militias to handle internal strife.

@DryGermanGuy also, the folly with Iraq in 2003, was the "nation building" objectives. Afghanistan was even more difficult because it lacked the infrastructure and suffered from extreme corruption that ultimately led to its downfall. That would be unnecessary in Iran, it would instead be a coup.

You should pick up a history book. There will never be any scenario, where someone named "Pahlavi" will get a position of power in Iran again. And you are missing the usual big picture - everything is doable. The question is if it's worth the political price and it's obviously not.

@DryGermanGuy the Pahlavi regime regained control in 1953 from Mossadegh (who was PM). There is much debate in the extent of US involvement. However, what is known is that the mullahs supported both sides. Most Iranians seem to support the return of the Shah, as at least a interim leader. It's been done before, and can be done again.

@DryGermanGuy the political price depends on if Trump wants a major generational strategic victory. He may very well only care about the nuclear program (which seems likely so far). However, he will eventually have to realize the Israel perspective is right. All major outcomes come with risks and a price. Westerners used to know this.
