Well, in some social classes, I think that's exactly the way it happened and probably still does, but now, in the more refined classes, so to speak, lawsuits and disagreements are settled with lawsuits and false accusations. I think the other people are still having fistfights

I think it had to do with the idea that putting hands on someone was somehow not acceptable, but shooting them somehow was. As if it mattered.

Over love? No, the idea behind it is that a woman is the property of a man, and another man has interfered with the owner's property interest. If a lover prefers another, she is free to go. And honor? Another 17th century concept based on a closed aristocratic society.

Men used to die or be horribly maimed in duels because women expected men to duel for their "honor", but lucky for us, men basically don't do that anymore. I honestly believe that women's opinions had nothing to do with the fact that men used to do this shit. You are a man. Because I consider that both men and women are equally free. Both men and women are free to leave an unsatisfactory relationship, perhaps with the prospect of another, perhaps not. People may leave relationships when they believe another will be happier -- this is not the fault of a third party, it's a result of learning that things could be better.
