Why do women (as well as men on their behalf) get so upset over stereotypes and jokes?

I like looking at reviews on Goodreads after I finish a book, and holy shit the amount of whining I see whenever women aren't portrayed as God's gift to the world or God forbid a lighthearted joke is made about them, the reviewers go on a tirade about "misogyny" in one little scene, and this taints their perception of the entire fucking book. What the fuck, why are they like this?

Nobody does this when it's a man. But when it's a woman they act like you committed the holocaust.

Women have never been expected to regulate their emotions. Similarly many modern men, too frequently raised by single mothers and educated early on primarily by female teachers, if they are taught emotional regulation at all, are not taught to expect emotional regulation from women. Yet they are still taught to protect and save women at all costs. So they become “white knights”, euphemistically speaking of course.
This is at the heart of the reason that toxic feminism has run rampant. There are too few people invested in reigning it in.

Thanks for a mho. I think a character defect of conservative people is that we are excessively polite. Whilst the Left has carried on the Marx tradition of denigration. I had to train myself to be impolite like a Leftie.
