Have you ever cheated?

Not in terms of relationships, but in skool, sports, games or other competitive or graded events?
There has been a lot made of kids using AI to cheat in skool. I felt like that might be an overreaction because how many kids actually resort to cheating anyway?

So this professor cleverly caught the majority of his students using AI to cheat.
How common is cheating? Has AI somehow compelled more people to cheat? Or have the majority of students always cheated?

Similar conversations revolve around sports. Steroids and other performance enhancing substances are frequently in the headlines. And i find a lot of nuthugging fans of cheaters insist that “EVERYONE IS DOING IT!!!”. As an MMA fan, i’m frequently involved in debates about whether eye pokes, groin kicks and fence grabs are cheating or “honest mistakes”. Similarly, fans of athletes who have reputations for repeatedly employing these banned practices insist “IT’S COMPLETELY UNAVOIDABLE! EVERYONE DOES IT!”. That’s categorically false, but that information combined with the report on that college professor leaves me wondering if more people are cheating than i think.

So, have you ever cheated? Do you know people who have? Do you think most people cheat? Do you think everyone cheats at one time or another?
I have always kind of figured most people are good and fundamentally honest. Maybe i’m giving people more credit than they deserve.

Only in sports. I played high level competitive sports and if you weren't cheating then you weren't trying and it's only cheating if you get caught. Everybody playing at a high level is bending the rules and pushing the boundaries but it's just a game, it's not real life and you have to play on the edge of what's acceptable. You don't cheat in relationships, school or anything life related that matters because that never works out for you in the long run and ruins your character. In sports you never cheat your training and substitute steroids for hard work. There's no shortcuts in life but once its gametime, games are just games.

Once when I was in college I cheated on an exam. Another time I had a computer program to write. I saw one of the smart kids throw his program in the trash so I waited for him to leave and fished it out of the trash and fixed the errors and turned it in

I taught three courses in the spring of 2020. The day before spring break I told everyone I would see them in a week. I never saw any of them again because Covid had them close the school and we had remote learning. I know that a lot of the students cheated on thr exams. These kids did not ask for this and the remote learning model is a joke because no matter what you do, it is still easy to cheat. I ended up passing everyone.

Outside of love, yes i have cheated, especially in video games and sometimes in card games 😁

Nope
