I think it just depends on how you look at it. For individuals, yes it does indicate real life for that individual, one way or another. But if we are being general, then not necessarily so because certain types of people tend to be more active online than others.

A lot of things I have said online I wouldn’t dream of doing them in real life, or do them in public, or with someone, and lot of things I have said online could subtly depict who I am. It’s more like how I said it, than the action itself.
