Putting my personal feelings aside and not getting into too much mudslinging, I’d say the critical mistake is that the U. S. is trying to fight wars the old, now-unreliable way: through military might. Wars aren’t won on “You sunk my battleship!😤” anymore. It’s not just “the country with the biggest and baddest army wins.”
I’m no fan of the Iranian regime, but this has been a masterful punk-out of America; and it all comes as an unforced error. And no one is Birdman hand-rubbing over this like China, trust that…
It’s unfortunate that this came at such a cost, to us, and to the world order that wasn’t as bad as the prospective one we face now, all because the American electorate is stupid, selfish, bigoted, and believes in the most obviously false propaganda I could ever fear to witness.
The only positive to come out of this is that there’s no way for them to blame this on the left, not without looking pathetic, anyway; they WILL try, lmfao. Not holding yourself accountable and blaming all of your problems on others is kind of a prerequisite for membership😂 That’s what their penchant for “whataboutism” is based in. But the point is, we gave them ALL of the rope, and they’re hanging themselves with it in even more spectacular fashion than I envisioned. If Americans don’t learn their lesson about conservative leadership THIS TIME, then “The American Experiment” will be truly dead.

Why is the strait even in question (not that it’s our right to be controlling anyway)? Trump has declared victory like 40 times, yet there’s still military action and negotiations? And we did this because they have nukes, or almost? But they said we destroyed them in the summer of ‘25 with that supposedly wildly successful airstrike that they told us “completely obliterated” Iran’s nuclear program. And there’s no way they could’ve rebuilt in that time. Both things can’t be true; so which time did they lie to us? And then they switch gears and say it’s a liberation mission…. well? Where’s the revolution, if this is welcomed and we’ve cleared the way? Why is the same regime still in power? And why do you care about their women and gay people one day, but then cheer when Trump threatens to wipe out their entire situation? Also, are you unaware that America and Israel are bad actors on the world stage too? We’re not measurably better than Iran. We go about our diet differently, but it’s all dirt at the end of the day. I definitely don’t see us as superheroes of the world. I’d love to feel that way, but that requires disbelieving my lying eyes. I’m not trying to be unpatriotic; I’m trying to be objective and unbiased, and not just blindly loyal just because I was born here.

Trump never claimed the war was won day one, he began making those claims largely during the Summer. He's grandiose in his language and it doesn't help. Another one of his weaknesses.
Currently, Iran is asking for talks and an end. The economic warfare has been more destructive than the strikes, and those destroyed around $1 trillion of military infrastructure

Whether we like Iran or we don’t, that’s where they live and they get to handle their business however they want to handle their business, just like we would demand for ourselves. We don’t have license to insert ourselves wherever we see fit around the world. We’re imperialists and resource pirates, which are mortal sins of national character. We are the bad guy. Anything done to us, like it or not, is warranted retaliation. What would you do if Iran (or if you prefer someone more military competitive with us, China) just rolled up on America and was like “we control the Gulf Of Mexico, and the entire Atlantic and Pacific seaboards now, because fuck you.”
