Why is Trump unable to explain why he started the war with Iran?

Has offered and retracted many different explanations, some of which are mutually exclusive. These include outright regime change, assistance to the oppressed peoples of the Islamic Republic, stripping Iran of ‘the ability to project power outside its borders,’ stopping future Iranian-sponsored terrorist attacks while exacting revenge for past ones, preëmptive action against an imminent Iranian threat to attack U. S. forces, preëmptive action to block Iran from building ballistic missiles that could hit the U. S. mainland, and preëmptive action to stop the Iranian nuclear program that Trump had, as recently as last week, claimed was ‘obliterated.’

Is this just more of his memory lapses or his inability to put simple concepts together, or you tell me? I don't know.

Thank you for providing some evidence. This is more than anybody else has done. I want to also point out to you that this was an internal problem in Iran that had nothing to do with the United States at all. They were killing Iranian civilians, and I certainly sure as hell don't approve of that. It's not something that makes me want to go shoot them. This would be equivalent to Iranians seeing films of us killing black people and coming here and wanting to kill us because we were discriminating against black people. Both ways, it's none of their business and it's none of our business; it's their problem.

It's our problem because certain people in our country are so married to the idea of making as much money as they possibly can that they really would like to go to Iran, kill a bunch of people, and take their oil. I don't think that should happen. It doesn't matter what the Iranians have done; it's like I said, it's their problem, not ours.

It's not, any instability due to terrorists can lead to terrorists attacks and many issues that directly impact us, nvm how it affects our deals.
Then further more since US has more power therefore has an ability to remove said people from power that are killing innocents, to not do this is to let people innocents die? To think of something as not our problem is the exact same ideology America had towards Europe dealing with Hitler, by the time US got involved it was late to the issue. If they'd got involved much sooner perhaps events and countless lives could've been saved.

Reality of our world is there is no such thing as we should just not care. To argue as such would be a problem for us and them to everyone else.
And obviously immoral but even without morality involved it makes no sense to let them just grow in power and do what they want.

Also it's not comparable to someone accidently or wrongfully or to save lives, because our countries are actually trying to not follow such behavior despite what others may claim, if they actually educate themselves or go to said country they'd know the difference instantly it's just a bad faith argument to even compare.
