Oh my lord…. well…. at least I wasn’t let down from lofty expectations, lmfao. It’s actually going even worse than I’d imagined. It’s perversely satisfying to be so right, but obviously we’re not doing so well, collectively.

And it’s all unforced errors. Like him or don’t, but Biden was successfully navigating us through the post-Covid economic recovery. I’m not going to go in circles with the remaining cultists, I’ve been through it ad nauseum for years already; those are just the facts. Everything was trending upwards, and our recovery was the strongest of any country in the G-20.

MAGA and its adjacent media (both mainstream and independent) managed to disinform half the country into believing that this was not the case; but rather, things are “economically bad” because YOU’RE broke, which their conservative think tanks were already hard at work building sociocultural narratives and party lines for (to spread with ease via social media), working backwards from the desired conclusion of: “…. and that’s why liberals are your enemy: for allowing policies and sociocultural conditions that allow YOUR sworn enemy for some reason or another (that we fanned the flames of), the dastardly, despicable [insert group or groups that bigots just viscerally don’t like and need to be given pseudo-intellectual reasonings to use as social camouflage (and likely a personal psychological justification/self-soothing mechanism) for their heinous bigotries], who have done nothing but take advantage of YOU, John & Jane Q. Taxpayer!”, and something about taking your job while simultaneously living off welfare, lmfao. Depending on the group, they’ll allege all kinds of other antisocial behaviors, while of course avoiding all mirrors, lmao.

This is all geared towards overly fearful people who are obsessed with panic about losing…something; Money, job opportunities, safety, social status…it can be one or any number of things. The majority of people I think are resentful that their “American Dream” hasn’t lived up to what they were sold.

I think there are a lot of factors that might go into that phenomenon, but I don’t think it’s for the reasons conservative thought leaders would have you believe. I think we need to be real when we think about “Americans”, and realize that most of us are pretty average, at best; but a lot fewer of us have realized it and/or made their peace with it. Instead, people want someone to blame, someone who they can say robbed them of something rightfully theirs.

W. E. B. DuBois came up with the concept of “the psychological wage of whiteness”; basically, the idea of “no matter who I am and how little I may have in my white sub-society, I’m always better than someone who isn’t white, so I have that going for me”; and this was furthermore the offended base feeling of anti-Abolitionists and anti-Jim Crow advocates.

I bring that up just to say I think some demographics in our society in addition to white people have a “psychological wage” they feel owed to them; this could be for being a man, being heterosexual, being a native-born American…. all kinds of stuff where an entitlement is felt and gatekeeping against a perceived out-group occurs.

Anyway….”You’re in danger and people who deserve stuff less than you are getting things because of your tax dollars, or because of some reverse-engineered logic to blame something that ultimately serves a societal good, but we don’t like the people it helps, but we also don’t want to be the obvious asshole, so we make up stories to justify us being assholes, and call it “common sense.” Just think: “if we let people starve, and let our infrastructure go to shit, and let our bigotries run wild…you could get…you could get A REALLY BIG TV!!! Don’t you want a really big TV? What’s that you got there? Oh, 55 inches? That’s cute…. What are you, SWEDISH? Who are you, Liz “Pocahontas” Warren, trying to ‘lower your carbon footprint’, you pussy? THIS IS THE U-S OF A, PAL! GO BIG OR GO HOME!”

And that’s it. That’s pretty much the whole Republican platform right there, based on unapologetic lies and bullshit. It really IS that stupid, but it works on the irrationally fearful, the bigoted, the entitled; and they wrap it up with performative patriotism and all kinds of nationalistic displays to get you emotionally jacked up like it’s the first game of an NFL season. “Don’t you support the team, bro? If you aren’t wearing the hat or the t-shirt or the jersey, how could ever be trusted and accepted?” 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

And then the much smaller crowd, who the Republican Party REALLY serves are the selfish and self-congratulatory people who either started rich or won what is effectively a lottery of capitalism, who can’t stop fellating themselves for “making it”, and who are in this very weird psychological state of “This is MY money, and YOU VULTURES can’t have it!!!” I think this is a “psychological wage of wealth”; these are people obsessed with feeling and demonstrating their superiority.

And these folks are usually relatively smart —which is why that economic class can often skew left— so it’s tough to excuse. Some people I’m just like “this is a room-temperature IQ case who has never left the county in his flyover state. Ultimately, this is sad. But smart, educated people who go that direction…. they should know better.” I think some people are addicted to money (and status) the way some people are addicted to drugs, and it’s not really any more healthy.

They, along with the politicians they line the pockets of, aim to rope in all of these dopes waving flags and chanting “U-S-A!!!” while chugging Bud Heavies on the the tailgate of their Ford F-950 with the aforementioned fuckery, to vote against their own interests, and keep the elite Republicans filthy rich. No, the money does not and will not “trickle down.” “Give me your money and wait right here, kid…. I’ll go get the stuff and be riiiiiiiight back😉” 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️😂😂😂

So…I could go on even longer, but lucky for y’all, I’ve got shit to do, lmao. But that’s all the playbook of how and why we got here. People are jumping ship, but a lot of other people just can’t get their bigotries praised and hopefully-legalized anywhere else. And even those who abandon Trump, they won’t REALLY change. The same people who fell for psychological manipulation like this aren’t just going to wake up tomorrow like “What could **I** have done differently to have avoided this?” They’ll just shrug and be like “Trump went rogue. Guess the wrong people got in his ear.”, or “Joe Biden wrecked the country beyond repair”, and go back to watching NASCAR, lmfao🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️
